I’ve just had to relocate to my downstairs office. Once it’s sorted I think I will paint a few vikings and then some space marines, followed by a good dose of warmaster. The move has been a great opportunity to sort through all my projects.

Had an unexpected midweek day off so I painted some more 6mm scale Microworld Undead. Skeleton Archers, Swordsmen and Spearmen. The effect of a full army on the field will be most satisfying!

    Nothing.

All been put away for two reasons:- I went out of town for a few days and we had an agent inspection of property falling due. So chaos vanquished.

This bunch of sad sacks- – an alternative era quest for me- painting parts here and there and mock up base; bought s/h from a guy from another guy; they’ve sat around as long as my Napoleonics in parts- so with so few actually near completion, thought the least I could do was get them into gear. Cheers d

Well, after getting these six years ago or thereabouts, I’ve finally remembered to start painting my Dream Pod 9 Caprice walkers.

    DP9 Heavy Gear minis

Of course, all of them have been modified, as is my wont, and will be used as Russian combat armour/mecha in my own setting.

I’ve also finished three jump-off points.

    Terrain markers

And, just waiting for decals to arrive to finish these old RAFM mecha.

    RAFM Heavy Gear mecha

    Haven’t I been busy!?

I currently have my 6mm Wood Elves and Trolls for  “microhammer”.
Microhammer is the 6mm version of minihammer 😊

I suspect that because they’re smaller, different compromises have to be made to make the model sturdy enough to be handled.

That, and I understand that the smaller gears have been revised since the original RAFM sculpts first for the original blitz, and then again after feedback.

Got some base colours on the Elves. They are cracking sculpts! This might be the first time i not only finish a 2000 pts plus WHFB army but I actually get two done! The individual basing may seem fiddly but I think it gives great flexibility.

    Been a while ain’t it?

    Not progress, again, but movements…

    Fleches

Made a couple of these- just scratched from offcut polystyrene pieces, card basing, eco friendly- real twigs broken smaller care of the tree at our front door; usual wall plaster ‘filler’ for texture- still a bit too ‘clean’ I feel. Figures just to give proportions.

Speaking of them- tired old boys of the 8eme Hussars (c 1990 paint jobs)- refurbing needed due to heavily overshadowed matt spray (making them yellow), plus 50% broken tails, this pair just a test case for improving the colouration. Only the left [err, rhs] figure has renewed white cords; sheepskins better, but you can still see the old school paint job, so a little more to do, plus the tails.

And finally, finally – started sample painting for the Merveldt Uhlans (1805)- tiny squadrons left escaped from the Ulm campaign still fighting for the KK at Austerlitz (take that you Austrian bashers!!!).

He was undercoated black then white wash- hence the show through of green- that also just a wash as I didn’t try to mix the paint much; yellow predominant on schapska so some tracing of lines in black or grey later. The lance+ pennon is an Alternate Armies weapon picked up just before Xmas, only ‘models’ bought in 6 months! Figure ex WF of course.

    Mike,

The walkers are modified Heavy Gear Caprician mecha. All plastic, I just assembled them my way, or wrong if you prefer? 😉

Just a copy of what I posted in Napoleonics__

    Those Hinchliffe purchased recently gave me a side issue to work on. Herewith an ‘unknown’ half-company of Russia 1813 Horse Artillery as a WIP (lets call it 95% done);

The final figure to fit in I had to paint from scratch a week ago, matching as I went. He’s the loader standing off top right, yet to be detailed.

The others as bought were well painted and gloss sprayed- they only needed some red piping, sabre scabbards recoated to all  silver (steel) and a few slight touch ups.

In the ‘leave it as is’ vein of resurrection of the old H. I hold, I’ve done the same with these. I could have created a full 12 gun battery- however, I have a cunning plan (like Baldrick!) to add some putty crests and use the other unpainted models of them them as part of my 1805 Coalition force.

The staged ‘Winter’ snow drifts are because I completely forgot I was not doing the 1805 Winter version! Nevertheless they did fight in a bit of dingy weather so it’s not so bad. Subject to revision I guess.

    cheers dave

Just caught up with this, not sure how I missed it when you posted it. Old age I guess. 🙂

    Thanks for the info.

“My way” will do just fine! Self expression is to be encouraged. Especially when the results look so good.

A sudden obsession with Polish Winged Hussars following the Twilight of Divine Right foray into eastern European theatres. Pancerni, Haiduks, Cossacks, German Regiments to follow (actually I may cheat with the Cossacks and German Regiments as I will probably use existing TYW stuff I already have. Currently working out proxies for Muscovites/Russians. Ottomans will probably appear soon as well.

Having recently repainted some 2mm as French and Austrian Napoleonics I thought I’d dig out some old Irregular miniatures and home made Milliput  towns and make a few new ones for 1/2 scale Volley & Bayonet. Top4 are Irregular. Rest are home made – irregular shaped c25 years ago Milliput, rectangular ones this year Greenstuff. Older, shiny, ones need a repaint.

Guy, that is some skill in making those BUA, if you didn’t say I would have thought they were all from Irregular. Inspiring stuff and some much deserved recognition for the smaller end of the hobby.

And some 15mm Cold War Dutch:

Ian, thanks for that. The nice thing about 2mm is you can have a large chunk of map on the table including multiple villages and towns, AND still end up with unprotected flanks to worry about.

15mm Whirlwind! What’s going on? Very nice by the way, as are the somewhat less concerning 6mm.

Haha! I do have quite a lot of WW2 and Modern 15mm, they just don’t get to the table very often…my broad rule is, anything above a platoon or so, 6mm; platoon or less and accurate rifles, 15mm; otherwise 28mm….
