I am just painting up my 20mm Villista army for the Mexican Revolution. All miniatures are from the excellent Shellhole Scenics.

Love that range…a bit quirky but great all the same. I’m interested to see how they turn out!

It is on the quirky side but I am really enjoying pinting them up. I have had the Federales done for a while.

On a use Trenchammer rules from Nordic Weasel Gamescwith slight adaptation.

    A mess, as usual!

Bunch of Ral-Partha, Xyston, Essex, Museum Mini’s and Minifigs 15’s, some Reaper Bones and WoTC D&D bendies, some Das Schwarze Auge 28’s, a chunk of Ral-Partha Resin, Black Cat Mini’s swarms, some cheap bendy plastic prehistoric creatures and even a Cthulhu Wars boardgame piece I picked up on E-bay for cheap.

All from a defunct 15mm fantasy project of ages past, and/or the “oh that’s cheap and shiney!” pile, now repurposed for Burning Sands.

Keeping me busy whilst I wait for my Croms Anvil stuff 🙂

Swarms eh, just written rules for them in the Chroniclers Companion! 😀

    Oh, cool!

I had been planning to improvise, something like:

within x cm of swarm token (I assume swarms are much bigger and ‘cloudier’ than the static mini portrays) -2 on all rolls (inc vs swarm).

within x cm of aggressive swarm automatically on receiving end of a full vit (assume 2) attack from the swarm – succesful defense does not give damage to the swarm.

When attacking a swarm, damage >/= to its vit allows you to act on rest of+next turn without the penalty above, even if in ‘zone’.  Only specific damage – say fire – can actually reduce a swarms vit/kill it.

When moving, either random (full vit, even if attacking those in x cm) or towards nearest/largest/most creatures if aggressive.

I imagine something like the swarms of frogs and turtles I have are good just for -2 on move tasks whilst with x cm.

Based on my doubtless imperfect (I only read them Sunday for the first time, and have not even played yet!) comprehension of the rules.

Chroniclers Companion, eh?  Desire to know more intensifies!

Not a lot really, but just to persuade myself I’ve been doing something I thought I’d stick these up:

Perry light medieval horse for a WotR period private war – sort of like Nibley Green but set in Cheshire.

Need a few touches and matt spraying but if I wait I’ll forget to post!

For now consigned to the Attic of Doom (past the Loft Ladder Styx but not beyond the Lethe under the eaves – so I should be getting a game with them shortly rather than forgetting them for another decade).

After taking several weeks off to work on my figure database I’m back to the painting desk. Here’s what’s waiting for me: 36 Victrix Republican Romans all cleaned, assembled primed and dry-brushed and awaiting color.

    Let’s see…

    1. The Brick Lane Commune for the IHMN2 participation game,
    2. Frostgrave metal female warriors, because they’re cool,
    3. The new Oathmark Ogre, because its awesome,
    4. 30+ stacks of crates and boxes for the IHMN2 participation game,
    5. A light mechanized walker for the IHMN2 participation game,
    6. A Saxon Warband for Blood Eagle, as my Vikings are getting stale, and
    7. The walls for a Victorian Warehouse for the IHMN2 participation game.

I have several wagons and carts inbound from Sarissa for the IHMN2 participation game.

And I’m thanking Covid-19 for the opportunity to get into all of this 🙂

Hmmm… more than normal: 21 Carthaginian spearmen, 60 Roman Legionaries, 60 Italian Ally Legionaires (all 28mm Victrix) and 26 1/700th scale Age-of-Sail vessels (just arrived yesterday). I’m also awaiting 120 Persians from Wargames Atlantic which are pretty far past due at this moment. Oh, and I just got 3 boxes of flat toothpicks to construct a Native American palisade to surround my recently built long houses. Realistically, this is certainly enough to keep me busy for the rest of the year!

    Not a drop of paint…

Currently though I’m trying to build a little table (60×40 cm) for 28mm skirmish based on a Tesco whiteboard frame.  The board is a waste of money (their pen does not come off and it’s got glue strings all over the bottom half) but a handy, if not quiet straight, frame.

So far I’ve just got a 3D printed paddy field, a Sarissa animal pen and most of a peasant hut out to help me mock up the layout with off-cuts of foam:

With luck I’ll get a bit done tonight assuming the work this weekend stops the water coming through the kitchen ceiling (just the news you need to be woken up to)…
