Whenever I buy some, it would seem…

Can anyone recommend some brush on matt varnish that is actually matt?

    Vallejo’s pretty good.

I prefer aerosol (steady), either Flair Spectrum or Testors.

Obvious contrarian and passive aggressive old prat, who is taken far too seriously by some and not seriously enough by others.

Testors has never failed me, spray or brush on.

You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

I use Windsor and newton acrylic matt varnish always stir the bottle very well and use thin washes of varnish.  Always brush in the varnish and never let it clog in the crevices of the model.

    I tried Winsor and Newton.

My first results were annoyingly shiny. After I had finished swearing, I calmed down and tried again!

Second attempt, I stirred and stirred and stirred. It does dry nice and matt if you do that.
