Well, it took me longer to play it than it did to fight the thing in the first place, but finally, I finished a full game of Gary Grigsby’s monstergame “War In The Pacific”…http://hereticalgaming.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/victory-in-war-in-pacifichurrah.html
Have any other TWWers played and finshed a game?!

27/05/2017 at 18:24 #63230WhirlwindParticipantThanks. Almost despite myself, I’m thinking of maybe having a go at War in the West too…

First – congratulations, on finishing and winning.
Second – have you considered medication?

I thought it just went on forever.
I like these sort of games – I have Uncommon Valour, WitP and War Plan Orange.
I’ve only ever finished a game of UV. The others tested my patience a leeeetle too much. 🙂
The new version of Strategic Command is a bit of a slog as well.

Thanks very much! Maybe meds would be a good idea…

Oh, I had no idea that one was still going. I remember playing the original (if I’m remembering the game correctly) in the early 90s…sort of like a simpler version of Third Reich?

The original was an almost a direct steal of ‘Hitler’s War’, a boardgame published by (IIRC) MGC in the early 80s. Avalon Hill bought it, prettied it up, and re-released it a few years later. Hitler’s War was a much simpler version of Third Reich. I still have a copy.
The new version of Strategic Command is like a more complicated version of Third Reich 😀
Until the end of June there’s a 30% on Matrix Games WWII titles.

A screen shot. You can display the counters as standard NATO chits. Makes the map a bit less busy.
