I recently painted some 15mm Romanians for the Second World War to use in Lardy games such as CoC or IABSM, they are an addition to my older Romanians and there’s some more photos on my blog:

Always good to have reinforcements.  You don’t hear about many folks playing Romanians, interesting army concept.

Cheers, yeah, surprisingly the Romanians are very under played. It’s surprising as they were the third largest Axis army and then the fourth largest Allied army in WW2!

Not knowing much about their TO&E, does it change much during the war?

Then Same as most as far as I can tell, large sections in the first couple of years, smaller sections in the latter years. The Lardies have them covered in a couple of their supplements.

Axworthy’s ‘Third Axis, Fourth Ally’ covers the various OB permutations.

My Rumanians are 6mm, and have been known to stand in for 1940 French on a number of occasions:)

For some reason, more people seem to have Hungarians than Rumanians. I think the Rumanians have a certain retro charm, and did get to fight in some very interesting campaigns.

Third Axis, Fourth Ally is a great book, packed full of information. I can see how they would fit in form French easily enough, a lot of their equipment was captured french stuff anyway. Which is another good reason to field them, they have lots of different stuff to choose from. I’ve also seen more Hungarians than the Romanians, I wonder if it is because the Hungarians have a helmet similar to the German one?

Rumanians are definitely on my “to do” list.  Nice looking figures.
