Files, polls, conversations and much more are going to disappear on October 21 Yahoo announcement

If you want anything from a Yahoo group file, download it soon.

I have a love/hate relationship with Yahoo groups. I keep forgetting my login. The format of the groups was confusing at times, but I will be sad to see those communities drying up.

My local club, Wessex Wargamers Winchester, has used a Yahoo group since 2004 to organise games and to share rules, scenarios and after action reports, so we are now looking for an alternative. We been sharing some ideas about the best way forward, on the Yahoo Group of all places, either some sort of free bulletin board option or a not Facebook social media style platform.

What options are other clubs looking at?

Though I’m not familiar with it, one of the guys on the Yahoo African Bush Wars group suggested going to  https://groups.io/

Apparently he has used it for groups that he runs.

The “Solo DBA for version 2.2” from the SoloDBAdevelopment group has been put on the Fanaticus Wiki.

I’ve just noticed that the group dedicated to ‘Neil Thomas’s Wargame Rules’ has just turned up on Facebollix.

"Wot did you do in the war Grandad?"

"I was with Harry... At The Bridge!"
