Hah, enjoyed your blog post. Thanks for sharing 🙂

I agree on quality control. I’ll accept a mediocre sculpt (they’ll look like mutants after I paint them anyways) but for the love of all that is good in the world, don’t sell me a bag where I have to throw out half the infantry.

Ah you must have bought some Old Glory figures !!!

Actually, the Command Decision figures I have are okay.
I have some of their ww2 Germans which were pretty bad, the Soviets were great and I have some of their modern M113’s which look great.

The worst I’ve ever gotten was from some company that I don’t think exists anymore. Cold war soviets but they had terrible poses, weird proportions and the weapons are almost all miscast badly.
I don’t remember the name though.

They were very cheap, but they’ve since been replaced with QRF stuff instead.

It was some of the Old Glory 15mm ACW Union figures, mold slipping , had to junk most of them, I complained got no answer at all.  That was 16 or 17 years ago, have not bought any more Old Glory.

The Germans I got looked like they had been cast a few too many times. They were still usable though.

If I had gotten stuff that bad, I’d buy from someone else, for sure.

    Kyote-John,

I am *so* close to posting an AAR.  I have had no time all this week to finish off the last 30 minutes it needs.  And will not tonight either (going out for my birthday).  So “whenever” is the best I can do.

I am still alive, and I’ll soon post somewhere an AAR of a large TYW skirmish game we had last week-end. Lots of fun, although everyone was very frightened and suspicious of all other players from the beginning: when the game started all the troops on the table were supposed to be on the same side; this made us very paranoid… …especially when our troops were caught in a large traffic jam in a village and everyone was suspicious of everyone else!

OK, I found the time to post an AAR.

It would have been yesterday, but I went to an acquaintance’s 50th birthday party last night that turned into an engagement party that two minutes later turned into a wedding.    So we stayed a bit longer than originally intended 🙂  He and his partner/fiancee/bride/wife have been together 18 years and have three children, but the wedding was completely unexpected, surprising and awesome!

    Cheers and good gaming.

Now I played the hell out of DBA/DBM back in the day and posted some pics of my Ottoman Turks on my Facebook page.

I am very jealous.  I have looked around for painted 15mm Ottoman Turks for many years, but never found some reasonably priced.  I have a soft spot for the Ottoman empire, and having the troops would align with this.  One day I am sure it will all just happen.

I could paint tons of figures back then. Now my eyes are not so good.

Would one of these magnified visors help you Kyote ? Some guys at my club with bad eyesight picked them up and said they make a lot of difference.

I do need to buy one of those and more lights for my painting table. I have a ton of WW1 and Cold War figures to paint.

Where’s your five things you love and hate about gaming Kyote? I give you a super secret mission designed to impress colleagues and attract women of ill repute… and of far greater chance of success than your last mission *cough cough bill cough* you were assigned.

I’ve been making a terrain mat, my second, it is going well and a lot faster than the first – which didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it would. Was thinking I’d post some photos of the process here once I get it done (probably this weekend).

    Cheers,

This thread keeps showing up on the front page and every time I see the title I keep thinking it must be a sci-fi thread about some sneaky alien race named the Yall. Yup, those Yall sure are quiet. Now who makes them in 15mm?

    The Yall

Along worlds on the Fringe, members of the secretive Yall have been spotted, carrying out covert work for hire.
The Yall hail from a small world formally within Unity space and have been granted “Technical Human Status” after their role in the anti-Conversion wars.

While individual Yall are strongly ambitious, seeking to gain influence and material wealth, as a species, they seem to lack a sense of cultural drive.
As such, while the Yall civilization has barely reached beyond its homeworld, individual groups will strike out to find employment, often mercenary work.

    FiveCore
Yall characters and units (company commander) may roll two dice, picking the higher when conducting Rush moves due to their excellent physique.

Stationary Yall in cover or terrain features may not be fired upon at distances exceeding 15″.

See, now it is a sci-fi thread about a sneaky alien race named the Yall. My powers are growing! Now then: I also keep thinking I’m in a committed relationship with Tatiana Maslany.

(That one will probably backfire and make the police show up at my door.)

    Love the Yall write-up, Ivan.
