ParticipantHunkered down away from my table, tin soldiers and paints, it seemed time to start a matrix game of the storming of redoubts 9 and 10 at Yorktown and the burnishing of Alexander Hamilton’s war record. A matrix game played by email (PBEM) met the requirements: simple, little bookkeeping and maintaining social distance.
The scenario (minus troops strengths to keep our players in the dark) are here:It's never too late to have a happy childhood

ParticipantThe first 4 turns of the game in progress have been posted here.
A bayonet fight rages at the parapet of Redoubt 10. The first French attack on Redoubt 9 has been repulsed.

ParticipantTurn 10 results are here. Scroll down.
How much longer can this go on? Both sides are low on gas, though the British/Hessians are on fumes at this point.

ParticipantYeah. I’m holed up on the coast of Maine, away from my soldiers, table and most books. So play by mail it is. We are currently contemplating doing Yorktown again with a different umpire so I can play, or a non-matrix Waterloo campaign based loosely on the wood block game Napoleon, using the same map. Future notions include matrix games of Arnold’s march to Quebec, and maybe a matrix version of Mighty Fortress.

ParticipantYou are welcome, Kyote. We have decided to do this again this weekend with a different umpire. I’ll be one of the participants. If I can catch that chipmunk making holes in the lawn, it will be sacrificed to the dice gods.

ParticipantWhen the game starts up again I will post it. But I’m not the umpire so I can’t crack the whip.
