The plane shows you have air superiority. In my game when you have air superiority and roll a six for initiative you can roll for an air strike.

The Jerry cans and spare track are courtesy of Rubicon supplies kit, I used Sherman track which isn’t quite right hence the tow cable to disguise it a bit. I made the cages for the cans from plastic card.

    Warlord Games 1/56 resin kit.

quite a nice model. I added the stowage

I was originally going to paint it up for Stalingrad, but repurposed it since my Stalingrad board is about a year off schedule

So I’ve given it a base, but it’s on a pin so it can come off. It’s a gaming piece not a diorama.  The Field Marshal lets you re roll for initiative each turn.

In game terms, having the Fox deployed adds +1 to your initiative roll 👍

The kit is from Perry miniatures (28mm), but doesn’t come with decals,  so I had to print my own.

    You would think, but no.
squirt a load of foam into a tub or bowl, and add a generous amount of glue. Then fold it like if you were mixing egg whites.

it takes a day or two to set, but it does set. While it’s wet I dusted it with soda powder.

I’m not going to guarantee what it will be like a year from now 🙂  but it’s an interesting experiment.  I like that it settles – you just spread it out like icing and over a few hours it settles into the terrain.

If you mix shaving foam with PVA you get shaving foam that sets hard ☝️

And your game table smells lemon fresh 👌

Spread over dark brown teddy bear fur that I first sprayed white.

Thanks I’ll pass these comments to my wife who doesn’t seem to share these opinions.

Does the book make claim of true story or only the movie?

I had to dig out the old OKI5000 decal printer to do the decal for the bonnet.

I had a decal printer for making slot cars, but the print driver only works on Windows 98 – so I also had to dust off an ancient laptop so I could install ‘98

    😅

    I haven’t read the book,

the movie makes claim of ‘true story’ but is it based on anything true?

That’s a good question, and I don’t know the answer. Several references I googled showed that.  My guess would be some kind of aerial recognition, I can’t think of any other reason.

It was an improvised vehicle originally with an open top, but in Stalingrad that wasn’t so clever so it’s been up-armoured with a lid added.  I think only 24 were built and had limited success, only 12 were employed in Stalingrad, so one will do for my purposes as a mobile artillery unit with heavy hitting power against buildings and defenses.

Oh, just with pliers. I didn’t really think to mention it as I always do this with my tanks, especially the T34s.  I like to remove or seriously distort the front and rear mud flaps. I always think tanks look better with these removed.

Oh no, the hatch open hatch on the back is only approximate.  just marked it roughly in pencil.  If you tried to fit it, it wouldn’t be a good fit.  But it doesn’t have to be – this isn’t a 1/35th award winning diorama, it’s just quick build for gaming – it’s good enough.

I found it hard to get a sense of the street layout. I think the building also overlooks the fountain.  Stalingrad movies are the only references that I can really find.
