    Hi Jim

I run Void Scar Miniatures and currently provide a free PDF set of rules for a game called From Ashes, which uses multiple models on bases, and is alternative activation if that’s any good? Feel free to take a look and tell me what you think. FYI there’s an update coming in a few weeks which will make the army building aspect a little more streamlined and organised.

    From Ashes rules downloads

    Hope that helps!

Very interesting. I wonder if they’ll match up well with my Rebel Minis’ “Sahadeen”.

Well hopefully as more and more minis come out, your interest will be piqued further! I’m not actually familar with the Sahadeen, I’ll have a look though, could be quite interesting to do a themed force using these mixed together if they go together

Must resist yet another project…. but they are very nice. The beta rules are free to download and the humans look pretty cool. Might have to dabble in the near future.

Just remember – ‘reistance is futile’ as per the Borg. Please do check out the rules and tell me what you think (oh, and dabble too!)

Would love to know what you all think

My initial thought was that they are not that great for 28mm, OK, but not that amazing, then I read the post properly. Hat’s off to you!!

Ha! Yes I’d agree not maybe quite right for 28mm, but hopefully ok for 15mm! I spend a lot of personnal time with the sculpter to make sure they’re just right, and he does a great job (Well I think anyway!) Anyway, as time goes on I’ll have more in the same sort of quality, so watch this space! (Or check out the Void Scar Miniatures Facebook page )

Very cool! I really like the infantry designs. I’m in for a skirmish set to give them a try. What are the actual minis made from? White metal? Resin? I really like the few pathfinders with the closed helmets. More closed helmets please! I like the way that you started the forces – a few specialists/officers, riflemen, heavy weapons. Too be honest the vehicle designs don’t catch my interest, and we are spoiled by great generic 15mm vehicles already on the market. But those infantry look great, especially the new faction.

Glad you like the designs! They’re made of resin, and I aim for the highest quality possible, so when your orders arrives I hope you’ll like them. Oh closed helmets huh? Well I have some plans for some special forces units for that faction – maybe they might have enclosed helmets for all their high-tech HUD stuff. Yes this set is a bit of an experiment really to see how folks respond to what I’m doing and what they think of the game as well, with the intention that the Skirmish Set can allow you to explore the rules in a straighforward way. Shame the vehicles don’t quite do it for you, but I’ve got some vehicles on the way specifically for the Verse Dominion, which I can’t wait to share with everyone once there ready (FYI I tend to release previews in the From Ashes Gaming Group on Facebook if you wanna check them out…).

    Way cool!

    Thanks!

Very slick looking models – the infantry in particular. Edit: Just had a look at your website. Impressive! If you ever fancy a product review, give me a shout. John Treadaway Editor of Miniature Wargames

That’s great John, I may take you up on that at some point.

Cool. Alien Opfor in the works?

No aliens *just* yet, but three other human factions are currently being worked on, with each standing out from one another. Next willl be the Verse Dominion – religious genetically altered religious freedom fighter types. Once I’ve got something substanstial to show, I’ll post it up.

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

    Anvil battle tank update

Welcome to the next update on the road to bringing the Anvil to life. Today, we thought it would be nice to share with you some of the technical details about the weapons and armour of the Anvil:

    • Battle tank covered in passive thick composite armour, augmented by smoke dischargers to conceal its position and electro-reactive pads to defeat incoming rounds.

    • Primary weapon system is a stabilised 115mm cannon with kinetic energy penetrators and HEAT rounds, aimed via a thermal viewing and auto-lock detection system. Stored in the rear turret bustle compartment, the rounds are then loaded into the gun via an advanced autoloading system. During ‘repair, reloading and maintenance’ sessions, the bustle’s modular design means it can be easily reloaded, reducing the tank’s overall manpower requirements.

    • The 3-man crew are protected within an armoured capsule in the front-centre of the hull, protecting them from potential catastrophic kill scenarios or internal fires and shell splinters.

    • A coax 20mm Chaingun mounted alongside the main cannon serves multiple purposes aboard an Anvil. Firstly, it can simply provide additional firepower to deal with soft skin and infantry foes, firing a more powerful round than the traditional heavy and light machine guns mounted in a similar role. This also frees up ammunition for the main gun to use on more mission-critical targets. Secondly, it’s tracer rounds can assist in target accusation, further improving the tank’s lethality in the combat environment.

There we have it! An exploration of the tank’s capabilities in the battlefields to come.

We hope you enjoyed the info, and next time we’ll be looking at the physical dimensions of the model itself.

Thanks! It’s pretty big actually compared to many 15mm scale models, more of a 1:100 scale tank, similar to the Halo: Ground Command Scorpion tank in dimensions.

In fact, I love the Darkest Star civilian vehicles, I’ve order some before and mate great ‘bedfellows’ with the Anvil. I’ve actually been using them to litter a cityscape urban environment. I’ll try to get some pics at some point.
