Did the salvaging of the Mary Rose produce any relationship between guns and their distribution about the decks?

    Matt,

I’ve tried Spithead. I got as far as the Pithead website. It seems the manufacturer produces the ships in sets (e.g. recent wooden ships for Lissa) and  advertises them on TMP, but without a hint as to how to buy them. … An interesting anti-business business model.

HuAscar -HuEscar, I’ve seen it spelt (or is that spelled) both ways. But thanks for the input, Irv.

‘Smoke on the Water’ and ‘Steam, Iron and Tin’ used to be freely available on the Net, but are no longer so, it seems. Is there anyone out there could send me an electronic copy?

    Many thanks in advance.

Back in the day I had their Wild West rules and Colonial Skirmish rules. I was a bit p***d off when I found they were both identical, except one had additional wagon rules. I binned them years ago.

    Matt,

Many thanks for the quick reply. I think, like you, I’m attracted by the Hague-esque/old school ship damage cards. But you’re right: things might just go “Clang”.

Can anyone tell us WHY the Newark ECW Museum is a ‘rip-off’ without ranting?

I just rejoined. This was a bad idea 12 months ago. So what happened?

Go for Dillon Brown’s “Attack with Torpedoes”,  it gives a realistic feel without too much detail. It’s not a slug-fest like some other rules mentioned. Good for multi-player games.

Any unbiased reviews? And any particular analysis of the game mechanics? As said above, unit v unit melee doesn’t sound skirmish-like, it sounds more like ‘A Glutter of Ravens’.

It looks as thoug air and naval gaming get short shrift on this site, Don.

Thanks, Mike. But it doesn’t immediately tell me what the posts are ABOUT.

I like your reductionism, Connard. But why not just one board, which, in fact, would mean No board?

Why not just have three boards: Land warfare; naval warfare; air warfare?

Better go along with the opinion of Senior Naval Officer present, then:  Sub Lt Sparker.

Conversely, Richard, I, and others, am interested in various periods of naval gaming -pirate , Napoleonic, ironclad, pre-dreadnought, WW1, WW2, and modern- but not in their corresponding land games. It seems to me that without a Naval Wargaming board, naval gaming will become ‘ghetto-ised’, as our friend suggested, on these other boards. Something he wished to avoid.

So I go to Horse and Musket for Napoleonic naval gaming; and WW1 for WW1 naval gaming; and WW2 for WW2 naval gaming; and Modern for Modern naval gaming; and Horse and Musket for Pirate ship gaming; and…

Many thanks, Connard. And I won’t suRgest where you can stick your rocket.

Do people think we need a Naval Wargaming Board? After all, Napoleonic naval games don’t really ift in with ‘Horse and Musket’.
