ParticipantThanks for your comments guys, I’m glad you enjoyed the show.
SorryI missed you Guy – it was really hectic for the first couple of hours.Magister Militum are a difficult outfit to replace but unfortunately they are not currently trading at any shows – except possibly Salute. They weren’t at this years Attack, (Devizes), Colours (Newbury) or Warfare, which are all bigger than Reveille & a lot closer to home for them.
We hope that a couple of our old regular traders will be back next year – they just couldn’t make this one. So hopefully it’s onward & upward!

ParticipantMike, Thanks for turning the programme.
Steve, no private sellers this year. The two who initially booked both cancelled. We had already made the decision to ‘retire’ the upstairs room as the stairs leading to it restrict access to those with limited mobility. We have turned the space we were going to use for the Private Sellers over to games insteadCraig

ParticipantI’ve just uploaded a copy of the show programme folks listing the traders & games & their location.
Sorry it’s in landscape – I can’t seem to turn it
As always, although it’s accurate now, there may be last minute unforeseen changes.Craig

ParticipantSorry guys I’ve only just seen this post. Thornbury did go ahead & apparently was successful enough that it will return to the 3 hall setup in August 2023 as it was pre-covid. I did try & post about the show twice on here but it didn’t seem to upload.
Unfortunately I missed the show as well – after helping to set up on the Saturday afternoon I passed out that that evening & woke up in A&E.
All ok now & seems it was a mixture of exhaustion, heat and dehydration!
I must try to remember I’m not as young as I was!it’s Reveille in a couple of weeks – back as a show & not a TTS. I’ll try & post about it later today.

ParticipantGuy, it was good to see you yesterday & Steve, shame you couldn’t make it but thanks for your thoughts.
Numbers wise we were around 2/3 our usual visitors, which though a little disappointing wasn’t unexpected & probably a little better than other shows (Salute 50% usual figures – or so I’ve read). Interestingly we had a steady flow of visitors throughout the morning rather than the usual initial flood through the door first thing.
Positive notes:
All the tables were taken. We had one seller who had to pull out the day before but we managed to let the table on the day. Compared to other recent shows that seems exceptional.
Although the door numbers were down they still ate all the food available!
The number staying on in the afternoon games session was the highest we have ever had so thanks to all who stayed.
There were some great bargains to be had as prices ‘softened’
Hopefully we will be doing it all again next May/June & Reveille will be back in its usual format next November.
On a slightly different topic the Avon IPMS show should be back next year on 7/8/22.
More info on all these events to follow.
Thanks
Craig

I didn’t realised you were now in Thornbury.

ParticipantMike,
Visitors will be most welcome. The games will run from about 10.30 (registration from 10.00) to around 4.00
Part of the attraction with HOTT as a game system is the interpretation of how both fantasy & ‘historical’ troops fit into HOTT troop categories. This can make for some unusual & attractive armies & the owners are usually happy to discuss them!

ParticipantGuy,
Sorry you couldn’t make it. I feel it was another good show & everyone I spoke to seemed happy.
Our door numbers were down a bit but the halls were full, most of the traders I chatted with after were pleased with their takings & we virtually sold all our cooked food!
A year is a longtime in Wargaming, let alone politics But next years show years show is booked for Sunday 24th November 2019.

ParticipantJust a reminder folks that the show is this coming Sunday.
The web site (link above) has been updated but there is still a couple more people to add. I’ll add these here if they aren’t on the website by the weekend.
The painting & modelling competitions includes a class for a Wargames unit & it would be great to see that well supported.
Finally our good friends the Berkley Vale Wargaming Group are once again running an Art de la Guerre completion throughout the day.

ParticipantJust a reminder that the sale is this Sunday.
Once again we are fully booked so that’s 45 tables of Wargaming goodies in need of new homes.
Doors open for ‘early bird’ sellers at 9.30 (£4) or for those in less of a a hurry at 10.00 (£2)
Don’t forget it’s also the Bristol 10k road race that morning so there will be road closures in the city centre & on the A4 Portway. Best not to try to cut across the middle of the city centre!
Thanks
Craig

ParticipantDue to a cancellation we have a spare table in our private sellers room. Cost is £10 for the day which includes entry to the show for 1.
Please let me know if anyone’s interested in taking it.
[email protected].
We will consider letting it for part of the day – drop me a line. Thanks
Craig

ParticipantGuys & girls, just a gentlereminder as the show is under 2 weeks away!
Due to cancellations we have space for 1 game & 12 foot of traders. If either is of interest please get in touch asap.
More info on the web link in my first post. But this doesn’t show the full list of traders (the Square & Emperor Toad’s Emporium to add + Pit Wargaming & book sellers are in the modellers section & not the Wargaming!
Dont forget the painting/modeling competitions which have a class for Wargames units.

ParticipantThanks David, that’s very handy & they look great.
I picked up some of the ex Skytrex at Colours & have assembled & prepared a few for painting. Also got a couple of the Osprey’s on this so getting quite into it.
Your pics will also help with my painting so thanks again.

ParticipantGuys, thanks for your replies & apologies for not posting for a few days – the w/e was kinda hectic.
Rules Junkie: thanks for the link to the old Skytrex catalogue. Must say the models were nicer than I thought they would be & David thanks for the invite to see yours.
I’m still undecided! 1/600 would be nice but will need more work (better paint job) to get them on the table. Plus will be more expensive & the cost will start to mount when you add in a convoy to attack / protect. While theGHQ 1/1200 models do look very nice on line.
So may just get a few of each at Colours.
Thanks guys for your replies.
Craig
Craig Austin
ParticipantThanks David,
Ive tryed looking for the old SDD range but they seem to have gone AWOL.
Part of my dilemma is that neither MM or H&R show pics of these ranges on their websites – frustrating!
Ive already downloaded your ‘schnell rules for schnell boats’ rules – were these the ones you were referring too?
If my Maths are correct a 72ft MTB works out at 36mm – 1.5 inches long in 1/600, so 1/2 that in 1/1200 & <!–more–>yes quite small.
I see Tumbling Dice do a few boats & accessories in 1/600, so I can look at those at Colours.
I’m Tempted to order a few each from MM & H&R so I can study at leisure but that stops me buying enough to get started.
Craig

ParticipantDue to a cancellation we have spare space for a game so if anyone wants to present a game, either display or participation please contact me ASAP
Thanks
