PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipant
I do 15mm and will post a lot of it here (as I also watch the ad’s on the front page.) once I get my A into G. Looked at the 15mm facebook page but just seemed like a platform for adverts and noise like TMP was.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantWe painted a lot of casualties for the Gallipoli display in NZ and there was some talk around painting blood on them but we didnt in the end ( I did around 30 54mm dead turks). It was all a moot point anyway as Weta then went to town on them anyway with a big red brush.
I don’t use dead\wounded as markers simply as I use counters instead (and cant be bothered painting lots of extra figures)
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantInteresting I was only looking at a copy of Open Fire today – I might take a closer look.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantGreat looking game – the table looks realistic too.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantCheers,
I am everywhere ! I’m going to in the US next month and then the UK the month after so I can buy and have it shipped to relatives and then pick them up.
Thanks
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThat looks cool.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI didn’t get anything as I have an excellent tendency to buy everything at full price as “I’m a need it now” person.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipant15mm.co.uk have a vast range of figures that could be used for Yal’s
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI do sci fi – Just not at the moment !
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI
So we’ve compared a wargames company’s product release painting guide with dedicated Napoleonic uniform sites and found it wasn’t quite 100% correct? Well howdy dowdy – who’d ha thought Eh! Pick a medal sir, any medal! What they will do with this guide is increase interest amongst casual gamers in the Napoleonic period in general, and Chasseurs in particular, by lowering the ‘entry bar’. Once they’re hooked, they will probably do the research for themselves, if they are not put off by too much sniffery from grognards!
It worked for me. Same with most periods I have started when knowing nothing – purchase some figures, use a guide to paint them and then a year or two later realize they we weren’t 100% correct.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI’m getting more 28mm Napoleonic french sorted for a Waterloo refight, they were damaged in an earthquake a few years ago and I didn’t have the heart to sort them out until now given the size of the job at hand. Repainted 200 odd figures, painted another 200 since New years and then rebasing everything else (1400) next week.
I painted a load of the 54mm Perry ww1 figures and all this napoleonics means after the refight I’m having a break and will be in the USA for a few weeks. Then I plan to sort out my WSS figures as Connard and others gave me a lot of useful info in another TWW thread.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantWould one of these magnified visors help you Kyote ? Some guys at my club with bad eyesight picked them up and said they make a lot of difference.
07/05/2015 at 00:13 in reply to: Do You Remember the First Time .Ahem First War-game You Ever Played! #23703PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantMy grandfather painted miniatures with my mum – He used it to as therapy after his wounds in WW2. Mum then showed me one day how pops used to paint them and it sort of started from there really. I had lot of airfix napoloenic toy soldiers that i used to paint and muck around with but not wargame.
My first wargame (Rules, table, terrain) was in around 1990 after I went to a show and was invited to play an ACW game with a guys airfix figures. I won the game and it was great fun, eating crisps at lunch and coke, a days wargaming at the club was a real outing for me.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThe Western powers condemn us for our “child labour”, yet their women want cheap shoes that fit the current fashion trends !
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThe President of Clamatia thanks you.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantYeah,
I was looking at buying some ww2 from QRF but I am slowly tempted by ww1 – mainly for the Middle East. I’ve been painting the Perry 54mm Turks for the NZ museum display and I woudn’t mind a small 15mm force for some games.
Cheers
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI’m tempted by 6mm ancients simply looking at the photos on Baccus’s website.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantCool – I was looking at something like this only last night – thanks for the tips.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantIts a lifestyle !
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantLasalle -well written and well supported but I didn’t click with the Column v Lines and melee mechanics.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantGreat report !
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI rue the day back in the 90’s where I didnt buy a tonne of epic figures and store them away for 20 years.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThanks for that – I’m going to do some pacific actions solo using various rules I have and this will help a lot.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThanks again !
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantAwesome setup there and excellent motivation for me to do better.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantIs that the Swedish chef from the muppets in there ?
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI remember when armies first started and I got one of the first packs he ever made – still great stuff coming out !
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantgreat work.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantFigures – Most I deal with are pretty good – 15mm.co.uk, Pendraken, Hinds, Baccus etc etc – never have a problems. My favorite is 15mm.co.uk as they have what I need in multiple scales and periods, they are open to feedback (and ask about new sculpts and such).
Rules – I like it if there is a support area for rules and Ivan, Sam and others are pretty good at answering questions.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI don’t listen to anything – I like the silence (as all I hear in my day is noise).
It also means I can hear what our rascal cat is up to
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantWelcome – You’ve joined the club of those who have giant hordes of figures stowed away for a rainy day (decades later).
Cheers
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantHey thanks everyone.
Done worry about more NotConnardSage this is a lot of information I can use in the meantime. Thanks again.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantGreat work,
I see your cat has followed the tradition of sneaking into a wargaming picture.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThanks for the function as it will make my TWW experience better.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI won’t get anything for Christmas war-gaming wise but I do intend to paint some 15mm Napoleonic for a friend and also finish some 28mm Napoleonic cavalry for a game in the new year.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipant2) A new game using completely original mechanics, even if that might mean restarting the learning curve.
Does such a thing exist ?
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI now have half of a 3 car garage as my gaming room/man cave and while it’s cold, it has my 4 x 6 foot game table set up along with a summer painting desk. At long last.
I am the same – new house with a bigger garage that is now half manclave. I just need to work on the lighting, ventilation (in summer it gets the sun all day so is very warm) and insulation (as it gets cold in winter)
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI use a hot glue gun – sticks them on tight and is easy to pull off.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantGreat work Shandy
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantPerfect timing as I was only moaning to my paint tray last night I needed some more artillery and baulked at the prices these days (Its been a long time since I purchased any new figures)
