PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipant
Well done.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantSince we have had children I am now down to 2×3 or 3×3 boards (that fit on kitchen table) and I convert inches to cm for all the games. Due to the size of table its all 15mm skirmish or 6mm for me so no 28mm naturally. We also moved house and as the kids are now 5+ I upgraded to a 5x 3 in the garage (baby steps I know).
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantWeedy little aliens with huge brains and advanced technology (little grey aliens).
Humaniod race that are excellent traders\merchants.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI think its a good change. I’m happ for group moves to get formations into position as its usually the firing when the situation it all goes haywire.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantCool
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantA sale starts day after I buy it lol.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantIts the reason I bought it too.
I’m hoping to get a Vietnam game in next week so I am just finishing my jungle terrain off and my new board.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantOh, and good stuff, Doc Jackson, Tears of the Sun is one of my favorites! Any ideas regarding other geographical hotspots? I was reading something about Venezuela contesting territory with French Guiana, but that didn’t seem right as there’s Suriname and Guyana between the two… I’m also looking for reasons to get FFL into the Aegean and Baltic Seas. V/R, Jack
There’s always Basque separatists taking over Andorra and taking French citizens hostage. Or Corsica rebels from France for Independence (Helped by Putin) and a load of Libyan rebels float across to help them., Insurgents take over Lemos and pile it with AA and AS missles to control shipping to Turkey (As they have now invaded Syria)
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantHi,
I going to try the following in mine (Not sure of theatre\forces yet)
A game based on arms shipments sitting in a compound just as things in the country go pear shaped. Something juicy like a few crates of AA missles or APC’s , something that will the French Govt would like not to fall into idle hands. Either start off with the items being in a lightly guarded Govt facility (or the guards have done a runner) and the local troublemakers make a move for it. In come the FFL to secure the items (or demo them). (The typical 007 movie – stop the crazies getting the nukes).
For another game – At the same time a small team is off to rescue some important people people from some official place before it goes boom (Think Tears of the Sun). (You have to split forces between the two games both with rewards\penalties if the game is lost\won).
After that a few more games depending on what happens. Dominating the trouble makers or ending up in a Wild Geese style extraction.
Cheers
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantIs the Radiant Fire Heart a dragon ? If not maybe something that reflects that subject. Or keep the dragon and remove the Radiant heart bit.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThanks
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantHi,
Is there a minimum unit size in No End in Sight. Cold war and modern platoon combat ? Would it cover small forces against a larger force – eg: small Spec Ops v tonnes of Milita or Regular forces v a few snipers and still be playable?
Cheers
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI only used wheeled vehicles as I can’t see any type of AFV being anything other.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantVery cool.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantDettol is great. You cna also use Simple green if you can get it – Does the exact same thing.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI play toy soldiers. When people ask I just say its like playing chess but on a bigger board but I get to make the board and the pieces.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantAwesome. Looking forward to seeing these.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantLooking forward to them. Will any have simple melee weapons ?
Cheers
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantYes
We have done some local games that were imaginations but using Napoleonic troops. It was basically the same type what you would see in the SYW themed nations but simply using 1808 troops. It was a lot of fun – roleplay, intrigue and battles galore.

Sadly it ended as our friend (and main instigator) passed away suddenly.
Cheers
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThats great news, I have some of his stuff and always wanted more.
Cheers
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantWorld War 2, Sci-Fi (15mm), Napoleonics (15m) and Fantasy (15mm) in the last year.
I play Historical games solo or with friends but SciFi and Fantasy are all 100% solo.( I do have other periods but they do not fit the criteria.)
One thing I have noticed is that the local clubs have seen a lot of historical players stop playing at the club and play in their own homes\garages whereas the Fantasy\Sci Fi games only seem to occur at the club. A visit to the local clubs would make you think historical games interest is non-existant when in fact there are several historical groups all playing in private venues for various reasons ( I think its mainly due to the number of figures\setup required, rule-set preference and personality clashes (usually started by rule set discussions :))
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI’m an ideas man :)….sometimes.
I always like to see this type of example in rule-sets as it gives a new player something to get into immediately without having to design\research his own. I often see a few gripes on forums as people get a new rule-set that has no example games – Then their first self-organised game is overbalanced for some reason and makes it unplayable but then think it is the rule mechanics fault whereas if they had a better example it could have been a better reaction.
My whole perspective on war-gaming is the back story is almost half of the enjoyment in my games which is why the FP appealed to me)
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI’m really a painter-collector as I find hobby time (painting\creating) is a great relaxation from a stressful life\job. I play solo when the mood suits me as I like creating the back story to game and seeing how it ends up on the table.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI’ve been playing mass effect series on xbox so I’ve also been gaming 5 parsecs.
Could you do a linked scenario for new players so they can get a feel for what is possible. Like the blues brothers but in space
i) Run the gauntlet of unity patrol vessels
ii) Escape a jilted ex lover
iii) Escape a rival crew who claims you stole their gig
iv) Eradicate unity ultra nationalists
v) Complete gig.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantThe Wargames Website, Its all about toy soldiers.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI use Rally Round the King for large battles and Ganesha Games Song of Blades for skirmish type games.
PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantRal Partha\DemonWorld make some great figures and 15mm.co.uk also have a good range. I use Ralpartha for skirmish gaming and 15mm for larger formations – I’ve found both companies excellent to deal with.
Ignore my crass painting and basing but here are some of the figures
15mm.co.uk Dwarves
15mm Orcs\Goblins
Orcs Command
Orc Wolf Riders

PaintingLittleSoldiersParticipantI am looking at doing the same for my FPSFH games but I lack any form of ability to make things. I did get some of the WorldWorks scifi settings but it looks like the glue has decayed over time so Im simply going to tape them with sticky tape. The only problem with card scenery is when the cat decides to jump on the table.
