ParticipantThanks guys.
Not recently, Thomaston. 95% of this army from ’07 to ’14 maybe? Even the more recent additions haven’t broken the bank though. Buy big lots and part off what you don’t want, often times you ending up getting paid to keep what you want to keep.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThe tiles are the odd shapes. You lay them on top of the topography grid so they don’t overlap one another. Here’s an example with Patchwork:
Evil Dave
ParticipantI don’t, madman. Not yet. Do you have any specific questions? Alternatively, you can watch a Patchwork Express tutorial video (that’s what I based it on). From there I added additional rules on where the first couple of tiles could be placed, and made placement mandatory is you’re able.
Evil Dave
ParticipantGreat looking game. Where is the terrain from? Specifically the windmill.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThanks, CC.
I finished the last four prone troopers I had from my first batch of New Israeli that I picked up some 10+ years ago. I’m still thinking on the basing.
During the GZG Christmas sale I picked up a few reinforcements, and while they technically weren’t “on” it they were bench adjacent. So I built them all up, then based, primed, base coated and washed them all so they’re ready to go when I come back to them.
Evil Dave
ParticipantAnd after a short break to paint some Epic, this is what I managed to get done this week. I’m having second thoughts on the basing scheme, so they’re staying bare sand for the time being until I sort something out.
Evil Dave
ParticipantBeing able to paint eight of them up a week made them a little addictiv, I finished a few more around Thanksgiving.

ParticipantFunded as of yesterday, there’s about five days and change left to get in on it.

ParticipantI forgot to mention, the German/Landsknecht Offiziersstab (Leaders), Battle Wizard, War Priest and Wingsuits are up in the store: https://warmonger-miniatures.com/store/
Evil Dave
ParticipantYa, there’s a few stands that have a small magnet on them, I throw those down when I need a stand with a Spirit Seer. They’ll also double as Farseers characters in other Eldar lists.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI finished up the Void Spinners the other week and also went back and updated the rocks on some of the older bases to match my newer scheme. I’d still like to strengthen the black highlights on the super-heavies at some point but figured this was a good place to leave for the year. So here’s just over 6,000 points of my Epic Craftworld Lugganath Eldar army. Still plenty left to do though (Aspects, Guardians, Wave Serpents and Titans being the bulk of it).
Evil Dave
ParticipantThanks. I’m burnt out on Warmaster Dwarves for now. I headed back to the Void Spinners (third times the charm) and finished 2 of them. I hope to finish the third, touch-up the black highlights and de-gloss them this weekend.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThanks man, I’d like to finish the basing on the Dwarves as well as their artillery before the end of the year but I’m burnt out on them for now. This is what I managed to get done last week before Fall In! I finished the skin and hair on the dwarves, and got them on bases along with the ballast. The decals didn’t end up working out, they printed poorly and I found myself touching them up far too much. I scrapped the idea and painted simple patterns on the shields to differentiate the Warriors. I’ll got back and match the shield pattens on the banners as well.
The general still is a work-in-progress, I’m converting him up along with an unreleased musician. I did manage to get some good decal prints for him and the Anvil, they’ll be the only two in the army.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThey are, SM/TL era.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThese are actually the second dwarves I owned. The first were from two army boxes that I think I paid $20 for? After I sold them I found a good deal from a local comic store that was looking to unload them. I think the army ended up costing me less than $100 when it was all said and done.
I finished the leather on the dwarves this week, man did that suck. There’s just a bunch of tiny leather details everywhere. Anyway, the base-coat for the flesh is down now so it’s that and the hair, plus decals and basing.
It’s unlikely that I’ll get to these before Fall In! but they’re playable at least.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI put the final two highlights on the blue this past week, managed to get the bases and boots based coated, and now I’m working through all the leather belts, straps and satchels on the dwarves.
I was also curious last night and took one figure to completion. I didn’t use a wash on the skin, I’m not sure if that’s the way to go yet. You can also see the leather on this guy too, not sure if it needs one more highlight or not. Thoughts?
Evil Dave
ParticipantI’m gaming tonight so I won’t get getting any further on these guys this week. The blue shade and base color are down, it needs 1-2 highlights next and I made hit it with a wash to see if I like it better that way. Leathers, flesh, hair and basing to go!
Evil Dave
ParticipantSounds legit to me, Cerdic.
The wood and white have now been finished up and I started in on the blue on the dwarves. This is going to be a long one, I think. There’s a lot of small areas that I’ll need to be careful on. After that it’s leathers, flesh and hair. Fourish weeks left before Fall In, still hoping to make it.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI finished 6 or so of the color sections on the Aeronef ships but I need to get going on the last bits of Eldar for the Epic World Tournament in Scotland next month. So orange is back on the painting pallet. I got the black undersides and cockpits done. Next up is the little bit of black trim on the top, the weapons and the orange treatment.
I’m not sure if I’ll have time but I’d also like to get 3 Fire Prism turrets done for the army as well. We’ll see.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThanks, they’re getting there.
I didn’t get much time to paint this past week so all I got done were the funnels and the white for the colors. I’m hoping to get to the red on them this weekend so I can start in on the last few turrets for the Epic tournament in Scotland next month.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI finished up the gun barrels and windows this week. Just the funnel, colors and touch ups left to go.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI’ve been slogging through the decking, nearly done with this batch just two more ships to go.
Evil Dave
ParticipantIt’s Army Painter’s Greenskin. There’s some YouTube videos that use it. I’m shooting for all AP paints for this one, aside from the metal (which are Vallejo Air).
Evil Dave
ParticipantWork continues on the Aeronef. The decks got their base coat and wash, and I managed to paint the highlights on five of them.
I also took one to completion, it got its funnel, turrets, windows and colors done up. Like I said before, I’m not looking to go overboard with these. Just a serviceable, table-top paint job.

ParticipantI finished the first of the six Falcon turrets last Friday right before NEAT. The next six are going to be magnetised so I can swap them out for Fire Prism turrets (haven’t started on those yet though).
I also did some conversion work earlier this week on my Revenants. I did some leg swaps to add some pose variety and magnetized the weapons. I have some Vibrocannon arm conversions to work on and a bit of puttying to do before these see paint.
Finally, I finished up the lances and gems on the Shining Spears last night, and put on their decals as well. They’ll need a bit of touch up and bases edges before they get top coated.
Evil Dave
ParticipantYa, a variety of Eldar Aspect Warriors.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThe Falcon turrets are nearly ready for paint, in the meantime I’ve been working on the Shining Spears. The white and blue is finished on these guys, just the metal, gems and decals left to go.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThanks. Andrew’s signed up for my newsletter.
Evil Dave
ParticipantHighlight.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI got the decals on the Sunblitz Brotherhood this week, and finished up the pennants as well. I’m not completely happy with them but I motivation to keep working on them is gone, so they’re done. I hope to get them dullcoted and tufted this weekend, then it’s on to the Falcon turrets.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI haven’t been painting as much lately, so these have taken much longer than I would have liked. They’re basically ready for the decals at this point, so we’ll see how long it takes me to get my act together on those. I was pretty happy with how the gem effect came out on the lance. Also, oddly, I used a light greenish khaki as a base for the lance haft and weapons but it definitely looks bone colored. It must be all the yellow.
I am thinking the yellow banners are just too much yellow on them though. What I’ll likely do is paint them red with a yellow Sunblitz symbol on them instead.
Evil Dave
ParticipantIt might look a little weird, but I’ve got no problem with it if it nets us a new player.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI finished up the turrets on the Night Spinners last night. I ended up going with a magenta for the Doomweavers, and putting the glow more towards the middle/base. Annoyingly, I painted on my gloss coat which resulted in a yellow/brown tinge getting on them. I’m not sure if it was something in the brush or what but I have to clean up a few parts (it’s most noticeable on the white highlights). I’ll get to that in a bit and get some grass tufts on there as well, then I have to figure out Falcon turrets.
Evil Dave
ParticipantI took one of the turrets through to completion to see how I liked it. The Doomweaver was intended to be red that fades to bright orange, I’m not sure there’s a whole lot a difference when compared to the hull orange though. Thoughts?
Evil Dave
ParticipantThe Wild Riders haven’t been holding my attention so I switched gears and started on the Night Spinner turrets this past Tuesday. The cockpits and undersides are done while the orange got started. I’ve since finished that up and got the barrels glued on since this picture was taken.
Evil Dave
ParticipantJust the SM/TL ones, Mike:
Evil Dave
ParticipantNew year, quick new tangent. I have had TiRoBEx for a while and have been meaning to paint something up for it to run at cons and in between games at our monthly game days. Toting around 40mm based models and enough terrain to fill a 4×4′ seemed like a pain though, so I decided to halve all the measurements and templates. Handily, I’ve had some 2×2′ mats from Adepticon that will work great, and plenty of Epic 40k ruins for terrain. For the miniatures I had these old Adeptus Titanicus robots and dreadnoughts so I went for this quick and dirty prismatic spray of a scheme.
I just need to paint the base edges and the rocks, then it’s on to the ruins before CaptainCon.
Evil Dave
ParticipantThanks. I’ve still got quite a bit to paint: 100ish infantry stands, 36 Wave Serpents, Titans, Nightwings, Vampires. I’ve been putting a dent in the Eldar pile but it’s still going to take 2-3 more years I think given my current rate.
