My apology for the joke. Given the frequency with which I’ve seen gamers embrace Nazis on the moon in association with the hobby, I didn’t think that it wasn’t so out of place.

We all know about the dark side of the moon don’t we Irishserb. That Hitler and a bunch of aliens are sulking around there. Always good inspiration for a gaming scenarios if you ask me.

I quite understand what you are saying Tim and I agree with you about what you mentioned in the first bit. I don’t care what people think about the moon landings or conspiracy theories. People have to weight up the evidence, facts, or whatever they like and make their own judgements. It’s up to the individual at the end of the day.

Please don’t take my OP out of context. I was having trouble understanding the press conference. The negativity, the body language and poor responses from the astronauts. In relation to their achievement and couldn’t understand it.

Mike, Victoria and Irishserb have made good points which I didn’t consider. And have gone a long way in helping me understand the press conference. It was the first time I had seen it and imagined it to have been the complete opposite.

But he is presenting the “we will never know for sure” + “because I wasn’t there” to the conspiracy question of “did we land on the moon?” Consider: I will never know for sure that WWII occurred.

Sorry for misleading you, I could of chose my words better.  But one of the reasons why they showed such negative body language for example. Could have been because they were pulling a hoax. This for me is not the reason and something I’ve always dismissed. So for me it meant there must be other reasons. But I wasn’t seeing it. So that is what I was seeking. Hope that clarifies things a bit, I do tend to waffle a bit.

Yes, in fact, we do. We also know that 9/11 was not an inside job and there were aircraft involved.

    So what’s everyone’s else’s take on this?

My take is that you’ve been heavily supportive of the conspiracy! 😉 My specific reaction to “We will never know for sure” is as follows, LOL 😀

I disagree, for the simple reason I wasn’t there.

I appreciate the reply but you have missed the point and the topic. This isn’t do will whether I believe the moon landing happened. Nor is this a conspiracy theory topic. So I would appreciate it if this topic stays on topic please. Victoria is the only one so far to of offered an explanation.

Its to do with why these men are showing such strange, negative behaviour in light of their achievement? Which, I’m sure you’ll agree is no small feat. These men have done something no others have done. Yet, there’s Buzz looking like death warmed up! I pretty sure if I had done what he has done. I’ll be dancing on the ceiling. You could sense the passion, excitement in the crowd. Particularly Sir Patrick Moore, but not in the astronauts. Why?

That elevator platform rocks! Also, I’ve been waffling for a long time about getting some of those 1/300 fighters from Brigade models, you have convinced me I need them now .

Yes, the Neo Soviet fighters along with the British are my favourite by far. If you want a hanger for them their 15mm garage which you see in the airfield pics are perfect.

    Oh yeah!

Does have a nice metallic feel to it I must admit. Where did the parts come from which make up the sawage treatment bit. “Clarifier” or something I think it’s called? Those red pipes look perfect too. I certainly could do with some of those bits and bobs in my scratch build box.

They are lead into one of the underground hangers. Being used as a prepping bay for a Titan 5 rocket used to launch automated surveillance satellites into Mars’s atmosphere. They all cluster in bay 3 as told. Then Woods starts nattering to the technician. Working the rocket at the top of the gantry.

“Hey Bob is that you up there? it’s me Woods”
“Woods how are you? Still in the RDF is see. I left last year, got a job programming these”.
    “Is that a Titan 3?”
“5…..you’re a bit behind the times”
Woods was about to reply when General Sinclaire walks into the hanger.

“Sorry this is all a bit rushed, but time is of the importance and the briefing room is taken so I’ll get straight to it” says Major General Huw Sinclaire. “What I’m about to say goes beyond classified” he continues

The RDF troopers look at each other. They all know this is somewhat unusual, but classified briefings are not uncommon.

“Two years ago a small research team made an unusual discovery within this region. Luckily it was brought back here and kept under raps. Only a small selection of people were told about it. We don’t know the origins of this particular object….but…it soon became clear it was a substantial finding” he continues

“What we had found turned out to be some sort of transwarp gate. We didn’t know how it came to be here. Nor who built it, but we had figured out how to use it. It wasn’t the only one of it’s kind too. There is another one just like it. And we control that too”. He says

He looks at the troopers who are completely star struck. Expecting them to say something but they all remain quiet. He was about to continue but stops and looks up at the Gantry.
“Haven’t you got work to do Technician? He snaps at Bob, who was looking down at the group, rubber necking.

“Oh…..errrh….sir, yes sir” he’s says turning his back, burying his head back into his computer screen.

“You are all familiar with Proxima B? The Earth like planet the other side of the Sun”. He continues without looking for an answer.

“We have been sending teams out there for the last two years. Space travel as you know is scrutinising slow and so would be any attempt at surveying the planet. Until now. Well it turns out there is another gate, just like the one we have here. And it’s on Proxima B”. He pauses letting it sink in. “You pass though one gate and come out the other in the faction of the time conventional travel takes”.

“The teams we have been sending to Proxima B are only the most trusted. I can’t stress enough how important it is to keep the Corporations out. Truth be told Earth is getting worst. Within the last 24hrs a rogue Faction launched a nuclear strike against mainland Europe. The nuclear wasteland just increased tenfold. There is no hope left for Earth. Mars is all but a distant dream, terraforming is slow going and with constant corruption and aggression from a number of Corporations. Especially Cerberus, they would love to get their greedy mitts on this and make our lives harder in the process. Told be told people we are struggling keeping Mars on an even keel”. He pauses a short while. The squad now giving their undivided attention.

“We have an unprecedented chance at building a better world. A world free of war and destruction. A world that is already terraformed. A world without the greed, violence and megalomania of the Corporations” he smiles….”Well are you all ready to make history? because you people have been selected to go to Proxima B”

    To be continued……….

Thuseld: Yes I can keep it all to one thread if you like. I thought it would be easier to slit it up into 4. (I do like to spread myself out) But if it makes it better, I’ll keep it all to this one.

Stroezie is right, those dropships are 10mm Hawk wargaming. Those shown are UCM (unite colonies of mankind) or something. They are spot on for 6mm, in fact more 6mm then 10mm IMO.

Right peeps, nearly ready to roll out the first bit. Just applying some Matt varnish to the first bits of scenery now. Then we’re good to go. While I’m taking pics and uploading it all I’ll post the prologue. So keep an eye out for that, should wet your appetite a bit ready for the mains.

Now, as before it’s an AB character base game. With our heros McCallum, Woods and Daniels. I’ll be playing out a story while the RDF squad roam around the new game board. So there will be (hopefully) interesting and new scenery to look at. While (hopefully) I’ll be narrating an interesting story to go with it.

Similar as before, you’ll be able to offer a few suggestions as to how the story will pan out. This probably won’t happen until the action gets going. Although I’ve done the first bit of story and scenery, enough to get started anyway. I have plenty of ideas swimming around in my head. But there is nothing tangible done yet for the rest of the story.

Anyway, enough waffle. Hope you all enjoy. It will take a while for me to roll out the whole thing. But hopefully there won’t be to many delays.

Just received my second order today. More models for the project, this time from AB. And there was a little surprise in the box for me. A note saying “I hear you’ve lost your bits box, hope this helps?”. And there at the bottom was a small bag with some very useful bits and bobs.

Now it’s onward and upward with the painting. So yes Mike, it will definitely help and now I’m on my way building up my scratch collection again.

    Thank you

Well looks like I’ve got a bit of an audience.

I’ve received my first order for the first stage of scenery and have set about painting them. Just doing the base now, then it will be on the second piece of scenery for part one. I’ve also wrote a draft for the prologue. Be thinking hard about the story. Should be good.

I have had a bit of a set back. I cleared out a lot of my models and stuff. I’m not a collector and like to move on and change things. So I sold a huge amount of models and in a way starting again. The one thing I’m missing is my scratch build box. You know, the bits and bobs box we wargamers have that’s full of all sorts of useful bits. I must of junked it by mistake.

Thuseld, when you paint WW2. Do base the colours on history  and perhaps research it first.  Or what ever and just make it? Like what I do with my Scfi stuff.

For a defunct and out of service robot, his pose has a certain natural animation to it – nice model.

I am just going to sit down and recharge my powercell…. “Look son, this is a MK1 SWBot, they are way over 300 years old now…”

Has a nice diorama feel to it. I sure that defunct chap is the bot out of Star Wars. You’ll be doing an abandoned imperial walker next.

Basically I’m with Mr Average on that. GHQ models are nice and there’s quite a lot that’ll fit the bill. American  Strikers, German Boxer, French VBCI are all good for wheeled APCs. The German Puma IFV is worth a look. Since it’s slightly off scale and bigger. There’s a number of futuristic looking tanks like the Swedish CV90105 and the South Korean Black Panther.

Errr….no….not really. All I’ve done is identified what models to use and thought a bit about the background story. I’m thinking of using two Dreamblade models from Wizkids and mashing them together to make something. But time is against me and I can’t see having it done. Been to busy with work and fitting a new kitchen for myself. No time for modelling 🙁

Right peeps here we go, my entry.

Mars, home to over 10 thousand people and various Corporations. The Cerberus Corporation, experts in mining, surveying and general terraforming. They lead the way in making Mars habitable. They also deal in illegal activities and not afraid to show it.

Bio-Tech Industries have introduced animals and plants life for the first time. They also embark on a secret bio weapon programme. Nearly uncovered by the RDF.

Various other companies like Aqua Water, OKI and Nova logistics all struggle making a living in the harsh Marian atmosphere.

Looking after all the interests are the RDF, the law enforcers of Mars.

Insulation board, celotex for example do it. Which is a trade name.

Any builders merchants will do it if you need a fair bit. Will be sold in 1200×2400 boards so might not be the most practical. But like I said if you need a lot it’s the most cost efficient way of buying it. Or keep an eye out in skips or building work going on. There’s always off cuts to be had for free.

    It comes in 25, 50, 75 and 100mm thicknesses I think.
