Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipant
Peter Gilder used to run huge Italian Wars games, I believe.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantLots of great links on that blog, too! Thanks for posting this.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantHey, that looks like fun. Thanks for posting.
And here’s some inspirational music for when you’re playing the Soviet side.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantWho is Tony?
(Sorry — couldn’t resist!)
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantYou fellows make me feel guilty! Mine are scattered in various piles — I need to gather them together, and put them. . .somewhere.
At least I’ll be ready when I get to that Middle-earth project.

So does District 9.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI use this stuff on soft plastic figures, diluted about 1 to 4 with water:
Paint doesn’t come off, even with bending.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantThen: Chainmail for me too.
Now: Nothing — too much junk in the way!
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantLovely work!
Forgive my ignorance, but are these compatible, or two different projects?
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantThat settles it — I’m buying a shamisen.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantAnd got this instead:
Sorry about that!
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantHow did I miss this thread? Thanks for linking Dan’s photos, Telzey. It’s going to take me a while to work through all the files.
I did look at the boilerplate robot — great! I followed your links, Dan, but I didn’t get whether you scratchbuilt it; if so, fantastic work! I was reminded of Doctor Satan’s Robot.
BTW, in looking for these photos, I came across a guy who does 3D printing of robots. A bit bigger scale (they walk!), but pretty cool, nonetheless:

Giant gorilla? OK, Dan — this is just for you. 😂
Sorry.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantExcellent as always, Truls. I’m drooling. 😅
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantLike people have said, but The Black God’s Kiss by C. L. Moore that features the redhead warrior Jirel of Joiry.
Great suggestion! Jirel is quite a character — and IIRC, there are several stories about her.
10/05/2021 at 20:26 in reply to: Arquebusiers de Grassin Eureka Miniatures with battalion gun Hinchcliffe #156156Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantWow — nicely done! 😊
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantIt might be worthwhile keeping an eye out for them to appear for sale somewhere.
On ebay, for example.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantMaybe the oven? 😁
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantHmm. Well, if it helps, here’s an article explaining that glowing sphere with the blue girl in the center:
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI sent this week’s to a lady friend.
She didn’t sound up for it.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI am, OB! Thanks, that was an interesting read.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI guess this goes here:
You can turn on the captions — if you think it will help. 😀
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantSo I can’t tell my bass clarinet story? 😢
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantYikes! I’ve really fallen down on the Pulp serials — but here, in time for the weekend, is the newly-restored first chapter of “Mysterious Doctor Satan”, from 1940, a year before Republic jumped into superhero stuff with Captain Marvel:
As with so many serials of the day, it takes most of the first chapter to really get going, but patience will be rewarded — Chapter 5 introduces the Evil Water Heater. Make your own!
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantMaybe it’s a way of saying “Don’t worry — when it gets to the point of tournaments, you won’t be kicked out for not having figures only from X* manufacturer”.
* Insert Evil Empire of choice. 😊
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantHafen von SchlockenbergParticipantYep, working now, thanks. Enlightening reading!
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI’d forgotten this thread! But since you brought it up. . .Middle-earth gamers may find some whimsical ideas here:
https://www.thetolkienforum.com/threads/the-joke-and-meme-thread.23417/
And while on the subject, anyone looking forward to the gaming possibilities of the new Bollywood version of The Hobbit? Here’s a short clip:
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI call that jaw-dropping. 😢
Is it just me, or is your blog link not working?
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantConcur.
I was expecting Pond Wars, TBH. But these will do nicely.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI remember reading lots of the old ones were ruined by getting wet.
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantVery inspiring!
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantNice job on a useful set!
Though the skeleton crew always led me to think it must be a very low-budget production — maybe a serial, like this one?
(Yeah, it’s another shameless plug for pulp serials. Sorry! 🙂 )
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantHmm. Maybe they straightened out in the sun?
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantAnd here’s South Korea, but a “real” one, apparently, drilling to my favorite Kpop girls, MAMAMOO:
Only 16 seconds, unfortunately. Anyone seen a longer clip?
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantBack, to append a Chinese version (sorry for the extraneous stuff in the middle):
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantAs far as terrain goes, definitely check out Acheson Creations, who advertise here.
There’s also Armorcast:
https://armorcast.com/terrain/fantasy-terrain/fantasy-graveyard/
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantAt least the guys are singing “Stayin’ aliiiiive!”!
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantRussian version:
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantI love the big battalions, Truls! What figures are these, please?
Hafen von SchlockenbergParticipantAcheson Creations makes many of the things you mention, in resin, plus some in pewter. I have piles of them.
If you’re in the UK, check with CompanyD.
