Konstantinos TravlosParticipant
Good show!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantThank you my good fellow!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantI see. Still a good option for people on the UK side of things.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantNice work!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantSuch is life. Thank you for the long service to the hobby.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantI agree on those points.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantInteresting, kinda like War Times Journal here in the USA
Konstantinos TravlosParticipant<p style=”text-align: left;”>Great work. Don’t worry about fire points, you can rule that it has none.

Konstantinos TravlosParticipantNice!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipant<p style=”text-align: left;”>What are your thoughts on Mayhem and Saga: Age of Magic

Konstantinos TravlosParticipantIt is part of it to a certain extent. But the whole culmination is to move toy soldiers around nice terrain 🙂
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantWell not in the old system were a failed LD test and pursuit could see a whole unit gone before it can even fight. I prefer attrition systems in games.
Also I dont do 5 hour games if I can help it
Haha, no worries, you are not picking.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantSure, not necessarily. Age of Sigmar Warhammer Underworlds has just three turns and works fine. But in the case of Combat Patrol it would be nice to have units etc last a bit longer.
The more time and money you put into making your force, the more you should be able to enjoy it on the tabletop imho. One of the main reasons I cooled of on Warhammer Fantasy Battels very quickly.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantPer the logic of both XR and CP you should play a full game in an hour. We did not exactly finish. If I was not wiped out we would have had to stop due to closing time. Thus CP took much more time than it is supposed too( of course we were checking up rules etc, but so were we in XR.).
So yes for me, the best is a game that gives as much as it can in a smaller time frame.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantExcellent!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantThat is indeed a pity.

Konstantinos TravlosParticipantMy own personal experience is that the figures are a bit smaller and less detailed than 10mm pendraken stuff. Tanks and walkers are rudicously detailed.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantGood show! Thanks for sharing.
12/01/2024 at 22:09 in reply to: NewLeadhead PhD. First Game of the New Year : Legio Imperialis #194149Konstantinos TravlosParticipantYes, though we only played two turns. I felt the forces were a bit big. But in general it was an easy game to follow, though we did have several reference material that help.
I tried a refused flank approach (my test for any big battle game is whether I can use refused flank or not), which has a 50% chance of netting me a win. I do think had we played longer I probably would had a close loss, as my weaker flank was getting hammered, and my strong flank was facing entrenched infantry. But any game were historical tactics are logical is a good game for me.
I am worried a bit about a potential grind in large infantry vs. infantry close combats as the logic is attritional (Which is good). The game also rewards attacking as any casualties inflicted on a enemy trigger a moral check and it is punishing to lose those.
Things do die fast.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantI left twitter and while I miss the wargaming scene there, avoidimg it has done wonders fit my metal health. I am on FB , but only use it for keeping in touch with wargaming groups. Unlike twitter it is easier to compertapize.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantI have 3mm unpainted 17th century stuff I will not use. I would like to send them to you if this is of interest to you. I got them for free and can pass for free. More than happy to pay postage
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantThis is indeed terrible news. I am sorry for this.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantThe story I heard was that warhammer had become too bloated and entry armies too expensive. The whole experiment with horde rules backfired driving up entry costs and driving down sales
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantYup. I just picked up to research the battle I want to do in Altar of Freedom, but was pleasantly suprised by the book.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantOh it sells well. Underworlds sold 200k pieces. TOW is just a cash grab to capture some of the people who kept their armies and are playing oldhamner or 9th age. They are trying to recapture part of the ranked mass battle market they lost. But AoS has its own dedicated fans and sells well enough due to more options.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantA pity they are not going the Combat Patrol route with TOW.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantGood Show!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantVery nice!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantSeasons Greetings to all indeed! I hope you are having a good time! May hope be with you, and joy in your days.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantFinished a Tau commander for my Combat Patrol/Xenos Rampant force
Working on standard bearers and heralds for my 28mm Artesia Inspired Chivalric Army for Fantasy and Mediaeval wargaming.Konstantinos TravlosParticipantTime is precious. I cannot afford long games anymore and have little interest in complicated ones (These are things that were part of my younger and freer days.).
Thin gruel is better than no gruel imho.
That said systems like Saga, Xenos Rampant show that fast and simple can be good.
Of course if you have the time and energy Slow and Hard is great.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipant<p style=”text-align: left;”>You have a great blog. Keep at it. Abuse unfortunately (and worse) is par de course of the net in unmoderated spaces.

Konstantinos TravlosParticipantThank you all!
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantThose are lovely! Mine were painted by Onur, so he deserves the kudos.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantGood show
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantAnother excellent piece of work.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipant<p style=”text-align: left;”>Thank you. I cannot say they would be my first choice , but it is a lovely gift.

Konstantinos TravlosParticipantWell here at Elko, the local group uses Tuesdays for GW stuff and Thursdays for open gaming. Since we focus on quick pick up games (playable in 1-2 hours) there is little planning needed.
Konstantinos TravlosParticipantNo holiday games. Loot is some citadel miniatures undead and Perry War of the Roses.
