What you doing, how is it going?

    Painting?
    Collecting?
    Playing?
    Other?
    A Combination?

Painting- a second pack of Victrix Vikings to bulk out a collection suitable for WAB, Hail Caesar, Oathmark and whatever requires around 200 of the Norsemen. Once they’re done, Byzantines, Normans, Feudal Spanish and Arabs. Oh, and a partially painted Bolt Action 1000-point force is also on the table.

Collecting- pretty much what’s on the paint-desk. I will be purchasing a few odds and ends to fill out things that are missing from the above.

Playing- Bolt Action, Lord of the Rings, Oathmark, D&D, and (soon) Hail Caesar.

Other- completing a load of terrain for all the above.

I think I may be an outlier here- every single period I do is in one scale only- 25-28mm/1:56. I point-plank refuse to consider any other scale of figure. My interests are pretty simple, though.

    • Late Dark Ages/Early Medieval (so basically from about 900 AD to 1250-ish AD) which can also be used for Fantasy
    • Fantasy
    • Colonial (1879-ish NW Frontier)
    • Early 20th Century, so from the Boxer Rebellion & Anglo-Boer War to the end of WW2 (Bolt Action), which all feeds into:
    • Alternate History/Sci-Fi (VBCW or 1946/Operation Unthinkable)

A bunch of Vikings, mostly Victrix, just needing a coat of varnish to seal them off. Intended mainly for WAB, but will work for whatever system is needed.

    Viking warbands

    3*24 Viking warbands,

VIking archers and skirmishers and characters

2*16 Viking archers, 2*12 Viking javelinmen, and 22 characters.

Ooooo! Now THAT might be interesting! I have never tried the setting or “period”, so this might be just what’s needed to tip the scale. I’m part of a little group on Facebook who try and demo rules via Youtube and such.

    Progress on the Vikings

So all trousers, tunics and footwear done, the chain hauberks and such all done. A few touch-ups on hands and faces, and leg-wrappings, then beards and helmets.

Oh, and I added a few more javelinmen Thralls- it’s 167 on there now!

Suitable for use in both WAB and Hail Caesar.

127 Vikings of assorted types, all assembled and on bases. Next up- undercoating and some basing compound to smooth out the puddle bases around their feet.

I’m one (leave them in boxes in a closet of shame) until I, at long last, reach three (eventually finish them). During this process, they’ll often travel from workbench to closet and back several times!

These days, solo whenever I can be bothered to set things up.

I have a fortnightly D&D game via Roll20, currently, but no wargames. There’s the possibility of a once-in-a-while game with members of a club two towns over, but nothing confirmed yet.

RL took a bit longer than expected. Unfortunately the game doesn’t work for me on my slightly older laptop when running in WINE (I use Linux).

That all said, I hope it turns out to be a good one- I will follow, and when I have a newer laptop, I’ll give it another whirl.
