The strength characteristic of the attacker is cross referenced with the defenders defence characteristic on the combat table. The number indicated must be equalled or beaten on a d6 roll to score a hit.

    Hope this helps

Have you looked at Ground Zero Games 15mm Stargrunt Range. There are several Alien Species in there all with support weapons etc, not just grunts.

Ral Partha Europe have 15mm Critical Mass Games minis..

Vanguard Miniatures also do some 15mm Sci Fi but has a more 40k flavour.

The Old Grenadier Miniatures range may do. Now sold by a variety of companies and not under the Grenadier label. EM4 Miniatures and Forlorn Hope Games in the UK to name a couple.

Alternative Armies do a variety of 25/28 mm Fantasy stuff some of which could be used.

Also look at Scotia Grendel and Black Tree Designs (but Black Tree have a bad mail order reputation so beware)

Nice AAR and just a really good looking game. I just wish those great TD models for that period were made with only furled sails.

I second that. It’s the sails that put me off.

Out of curiosity would the sails be furled or removed completely when going into action ?

I’ve read they are approx 13mm tall. Do we really need another scale ๐Ÿ˜ง

Apart from the scale it looks like a good concept and well made, so I hope it’s a success for them.

I’m currently painting some Asgard Miniatures Orts (now sold by Alternative Armies). Must be 1980 ish sculpts and cracking little minis. Not too fussy but well sculpted, not difficult to paint and a wash really brings the detail out.

There is a Facebook Group (Fantastic Battles) and the Authors Blog http://irregularwars.blogspot.com/2020/05/introducing-irregular-wars-fantastic.html

I’ve got a copy of the rules and they look interesting. Not had a chance to play as I don’t have enough painted minis yet but once my current project is finished I’ll probably get an army done for these.

I too like the Dark Skinned look. How about a Centaur ? Half Dark Skinned Human, Half Zebra !! Not sure I’d fancy painting those stripes however ๐Ÿ˜

How about Blenheim ?ย  Ended the expansionist plans of Louis 14th and demonstrated that the French Army was beatable.

Battle of the Atlantic. Defeat knocks Britain out of the war and probably stops US lease lend equipment reaching the Soviet Union.

Peter Pig make an ECW grid based set called Regiment of Foote. However I think you’d need a 6ft x 4ft table and 8 inch squares to play in 28mm.

There is no precise date. Playtesters in multiple countries have been playing lots of test games to find any balance/points cost issues. Its more important that we iron these out than we meet an arbitrary deadline. That said, I am aiming at โ€˜winterโ€™. Soโ€ฆ November-December is likely.

    Thanks Nic,

Hopefully one for my Xmas list ๐Ÿ˜Š

I do mine pretty much as Radar suggests. I use an indicator pin to make the start hole rather than filing down the clearing pin. These are readily available from stationary suppliers and have a nice flat head on the “pushing” end and are sharp and solid at the pointy end.

Have a look at Laserblade by Echidna Games. It’s available on Wargames Vault and pay what you want !

Can’t remember if it has vehicle rules but think it doesn’t. Sorry I don’t have my copy to hand in order to check.

I like Games Workshops War of The Ring Mass battle game (The one with units of troops). Never really seemed to take off in a big way unlike the other GW Lord of the Rings rules. The points system seems broken and the rules can be exploited by a certain type of gamer but for a friendly game in a LoTR setting I like them.
