These days it is called the Defender.
I realize that I am a rare gamer. However, I have at times spent the entire game not engaging if it meant that I would be able to satisfy the objectives set for me.
I frequently “hold back” from engaging if I think it fits the tactical situation while my team members are slogging away. We are, after all, playing at battles and not rioting — so sometimes it is better to be a threat or hold in reserve than it is to rush forward and spend your troops.
It might not be as much fun as rolling dice and yelling “huzzah” but if it is playing smart then I am still enjoying it.
I’ve been playing around with delineating woods with terrain elements, rather than using “wood bases”.
So I try to have woods be surrounded by fields, fences, roads, that sort of thing. If not, I have some small ‘scenic’ rocks on penny bases to use to mark the boundaries of my wooded areas.
I used to mount my trees on scraps of wood or bases I wasn’t going to use and then put rocks and other stuff on there. Some pictures of my 28mm stuff is here:
With my 6mm stuff, I’ve been doing similar but using more uniform bases rather than whatever I’ve got laying around.
Thank you. I will check these out.
I go as small as 6mm.
I like a bit more board classification. Lead Adventure Forum has a good balance.
