ParticipantImpressive stats Mike, if it keeps growing at this rate it will soon be the no1 wargames site out there!

ParticipantNice looking blog, I like the white on black background, got sucked into the 15mm fantasy posts, personally I’d increase the pic size rather than making me have to click on them to view it properly .

ParticipantSadly, I do it for almost everything these days, I find it really helps for quick tabletop ID, especially in the smaller scales I prefer. Though a more natural paint scheme does look better.

ParticipantActually now that I compare them to my 1/3000th (albeit WW2) ships the smaller buildings don’t look too bad, and I imagine would look better with 1/2400 stuff, but the larger buildings are well off.

ParticipantTBh im not sure how they would look, in the following very quickly taken photos the white house on the dockside is about 6mm up to its eaves and the doorway is about 2.5mm if that’s any help:

ParticipantLangton miniatures do a whole range of port like buildings, harbour pieces, fortifications, dockside accessories etc, I have quite a few and they’re really nice and reasonably priced
EDIT: actually they are 1200th scale so might not be suitable however, if youre prepared to use 2mm stuff then you may want to look at the Langton stuff too

Lol, i thought it looked wrong , but i was tired and couldnt be bothered checking

ParticipantDo you typically utilise an umpire/games master?
Rarely, but sometimes particularly with new rulesets
Do you tend to play games with one regular opponent regularly?
Ive 3 regular opponents and more if I need them at the club
How long do your games typically last or want them to last?
2-4 hours depending on the various factors, rules, general chat, etc, i’d play all day if I had the time
Do you utilise a campaign system and generate battles in that way?
sometimes, more so in solo play
Do you design scenarios regularly?
not really, again more so in solo play
Do you pick armies from an army list up an agreed point maximum for an ensuing battle and then pick or dice for terrain just before playing?
Generally speaking yes
Do you typically utilise free rules, scenarios and, army lists?
Yes, well made fan material is a very handy resource
Are you willing to try anything at least once even if their is a cost associated?
depends on the cost, as long as its not a great initial outlay then yes
Or regardless of cost, do you read blurbs, reviews and other info first before making a decision as to whether or not to give them a try?
I do tend to check a new game out quite thoroughly before buying into it, though there are the odd impulse buys

ParticipantDidn’t each (British) Infantry Battalion contain an Anti Tank Platoon of 6 6lber’s(on paper at least), these were infantry first and foremost, just trained to operate the guns, once out of action they would fall back to their primary role of infantry

ParticipantSo ive now read General Quarters and I like it, howeverthere is no mention of basing, seeing how some of the DD’s are tiny at this scale, Im thinking that they need basing, any recommendations for a size of base, i was thinking of basing them so that there is 1com of “sea” between the model and the edge of the base?

Participant1. Germans – better trained and given more individual freedom in decision making
2. Depends on the person rather than the nationality IMO
3. Germans see 1 plus better equipped in general
4. Def. Germans, individual initiative at Junior leader lvl would IMO surpass the Russians
5. see 2 above

ParticipantNorthern Monkey – you need a bigger desk, mate! As for your 6mm WOTR project, well the numbers are impressive but did you see the “Rather Large Towton Project”? If not, I recommend you google it. Great inspiration!
Sorry Cedric, didnt see this post til just now, yeah Ive drooled over the Towton project, bit out of my league though, I do plan on playing it out though just at a smaller figure ratio, just finished the buildings to represent Saxton & Towton and Lead chapel using Leven miniatures. I only live about 5 miles from Towton so its a major interest of mine.

ParticipantThe potential offers of discounts from companies would be enough for me, plus the thought of helping the site grow, down the line once the site has grown you could re-introduce the fee for the trading board, or if the software allows give new members 6 months free access to the trading boards, then they have to pay to continue to access them
