NTMParticipant
Also present in Tunisia about 10 with 10. Panzer iirc
NTMParticipantThe PP Germans in greatcoat show a distinct lack of ghost faces compared to many of their ranges. Highly recommended as far as I’m concerned.
NTMParticipantAnother great scenario and report. I’ll be playing this at some point but I too am short of Honeys good job Zvezda have recently released theirs.
NTMParticipantI’ve only played 1st edition and won’t ever play it again. I can field a Russian infantry division (81 platoons) and each platoon gets a one dice anti-tank rifle shot. Long story short, they stop the Panzerwaffe dead in its tracks every single time.
That was an issue for me too but it changed in version 2. Infantry no longer automatically get an AT value it’s an upgrade. Many players chose to upgrade all but I go for a level which I believe matches historical levels of use.
It’s still my ruleset of choice for 1 stand = platoon level games but I’m not really interested in that level at the moment.
NTMParticipantI game every thing in 15mm, that way, my terrain works for every thing.
Same here. If starting from scratch today I’d probably go 10mm but life’s too short to go about buying and painting a whole new lot of terrain and scenics.
NTMParticipantThanks Etranger. Sadly too small as I was hoping they might be useful for a 28mm project.
There were some Crusader III suitable for 28mm at £10 in the one near me so worth a look.
NTMParticipantIf fast build kits had been available 20-25 years ago I’d probably still be gaming WWII in 20mm. As a kid I had time for kits but they were becoming increasingly complex. As I grew up time available for the hobby decreased and the introduction on link and length track was the final straw for me. Eventually I switched to 15mm with metal/resin models generally half a dozen or so pieces. When PSC hit the scene I wasn’t too sure I wanted to build plastic kits again but gave it a go anyway. I was pleasantly surprised as the plastic parts fitted so well they were actually quicker to build than metal/resin with fewer parts. Detail is acceptable to me too.
NTMParticipantAlthough the majority of my collection is still BF most of my recent purchases have been from others. Cost is not the only factor I feel that others are better quality too. Many of the recent BF releases seem to be getting back to their best. Looking forward to trying some of their plastic sets. I have a local store which stocks PSC FiB and Zvezda so I use a lot of those.
NTMParticipantSweet – looks fine to me. Are all the Peter Pig the same size? I am thinking of getting some USMC and FFL.
Can’t comment on the modern range but the WWII figures have grown in recent years.
NTMParticipantI am a firm believer that the making of a good game is some like minded people playing in a good spirit. You get that and the rules are almost secondary.
NTMParticipantI’m still on 2nd edition. The game is at the level I’m most interested in playing so I ordered the cheap 1st edition to get a feel of it before forking out on Deluxe. Caliver sent out 2nd instead. Like what I see so far but want to try it a bit more. Will probably pick deluxe up at a show next year.
NTMParticipantActually I remember seeing the Adler Germans he painted a few years ago. Not seen any 10 mm from him yet though.
NTMParticipantIt’s planned for Salute IIRC.
So that’s April 2015
NTMParticipantDutch on my list when I eventually get round to blitzkrieg
NTMParticipantI currently don’t own a single Tiger model. Had loads when I gamed in 20 & 6mm but not got round to getting any 15mm ones yet. Of course I will some day but more mundane vehicles take priority at the moment.
NTMParticipantThe ones I referred to earlier are Gaugemaster made by Noch. I have an unopened pack which contains 25 trees and cost £18.95 a few years ago
NTMParticipantI just use the big bags from model railway shops. They contain a variety of sizes all suitable for 15mm. Will check manufacturer name when I get home.
NTMParticipantI had a flick through the osprey in Waterstones yesterday looked pretty good IMHO
NTMParticipantI have been reading about these on Dan’s blog and plan to pick them up for Barons war games I’ve fancied doing for some time.
NTMParticipantCrossfire is back in print. Give it a go!
I’ve heard this a few times now but have so far failed to find anyone actually selling it. Do you know of any retailers preferably in the UK?
Thanks in advance Nigel
Edit; answered my own question Caliver books or On Military Matters in the USA
NTMParticipantEarly war not really my thing but will be getting this set to add variety to my later force especially as it includes infantry guns in the box
NTMParticipantI dislike rules that use multiple types of dice too in fact I’m happiest with just D6’s to be honest

If I can find it will let you know any relevant information
25/08/2014 at 08:37 in reply to: British and German Infantry in Normandy: Organization for WRG 1925-1950 rules #5749NTMParticipantI think Allen has it spot on for the 1973 edition. The 1988 revision used a single rifle element per section but varied the number of figures per base. So armoured panzer grenadiers had 3-5 and motorised 4-6 but no effect on game play though.
NTMParticipantIf using FoW basing for Battlefront WWII or Battlegroup Panzer Grenadier I would suggest using the 20mm ground scale or it could get a bit crowded
NTMParticipantI’ve tried without much luck to find the same info for the units on Sicily. Overall totals are relatively easy to find but breakdown at battalion and company have so far proved elusive.
NTMParticipantIf you only need a few it may be best to stick with PP as not many others still sell in small packs. I quite like Essex and Skytrex have some useful packs. Some Battlefront packs are good others hideous and they only sell platoon packs as do forged in battle. Bit difficult to say what mixes with what. My late war PP go very well with BF Essex and FiB but Skytrex are noticeably smaller. PP have also grown in stature over the years and I think the early war are older sculpts. BF vary in size quality etc depending on when or who sculpted them

NTMParticipantFor that level I like Battlefront WWII or Battle Group Panzer Grenadier
NTMParticipantIt can be changed which I have done simply so my username is the same on all forums
NTMParticipantThe whole proliferation the of sub boards thing at TMP was the start of the slippery slope for me so would not like to see it happen here or elsewhere
NTMParticipantI am only aware of the motorcycle and sidecar set from Battlefront. Your best bet is probably Peter Pig German motorcyclists with Soviet head swap. I believe the soviets copied the BMW
