Ralph PlowmanParticipant
Go for it. See how issue 1 goes down.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantA magazine with a subscription?
Is that something you could do? I’d be interested because one day I’ll actually get round to starting this project! 🙄
Ralph PlowmanParticipantWould it work for Slaine style games?
Thats interesting. It might. It will certainly handle Gauls vs Germans, for example. Barbarians types ideally need to get frothed up before releasing them.
What defines a Slaine type game for you?
Ralph PlowmanParticipantWhat I like about these rules is that they aren’t for masses battles. They represent large skirmishes, like most TFL games, and are perfect for scenarios where your leaders, or ‘big men’ take a few units off on a mission.
Giving the leaders names is always a good idea and you can watch their personalities develop thanks to the vagaries of the dice.
Having been lucky enough to have got a few games in already, they are my favourite iteration of the Lardy rules engine. The barbarians play very differently to the Romans, and use a very clever modification to the usual Shock mechanism, called Fervour, which can be a double edged sword…
Looking forward to my book arriving next week.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantSchweet!
Lovely job with the foliage too.
9/10 Would recommend.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantThat looks superb Michael. Really nicely done.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantLovely apes!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantA winged ape would be quite appropriate too!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantLovely swag!
What is best in life? A black lotus t shirt comes close.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantThe only place I’ve seen the term Hole-Dweller is Tolkien’s translation of the word Hobbit.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantOk, I’m ready with my wallet open…
Ralph PlowmanParticipantNot really. Big fan though.
I have most of my box of Asterix minis. Asterix, Obelix and Getafix mysteriously vanished a good few years ago…
Ralph PlowmanParticipantVery nice. Full of character!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantDirtside 2 from GZG has a section describing how to use ‘modular’ oversized vehicles, citing as inspiration giant cybertanks such as the Bolos from Keith Laumer’s series.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantGood idea, once I have sold a few of these I will do some circular/curved/bendy ones.
You’ve already pre-sold a few here!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantA nice curved section would look great in there!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantWalls are looking really good.
Some single row sections that a miniature can see/shoot over would be great too.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantYes, I could certainly use all three of these. They’d work for fantasy, Ancient and sci fi settings.
There isn’t much of this around in 15mm.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantThey look a bit useful.
Clearly I’d use them for Burning Sands!
By making them into a suitable landscape for that Middle Eastern style of game I’d be able to get more use out of them for my Hoplite games too. Mortal Gods, Hoplomachia etc.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantLove them!
When can I get them? 😄
Ralph PlowmanParticipantThey look great from this angle, can’t wait for them to turn around!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantSuperb!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantLovely looking town Michael.
It looks prosperous enough for a bunch of bandits to ride through and sack the place.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantLooking good. You’re really not helping my adobe addiction!
I see you’re a believer in ‘spam as a building material’ too!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantVariety is good, I look forward to seeing what else you produce. I do really like that two-storey ‘tower’ version, but as I have one I can selfishly live with its withdrawal!
I’ll have to stop buying adobes soon. Between these and my mdf models it feels like I will soon be able to fill a large table with them!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantDoesn’t look a lot less tall from that angle.
What sort of building did you have in mind?
Ralph PlowmanParticipantThat is a lovely building, good job!
(who makes F & the GM at the back?)
Ralph PlowmanParticipantA little wooden platform with steps on top, or a balcony so the priests can preach to the masses perhaps?
Ralph PlowmanParticipantUtuseb appears to be a real place in Namibia.
Apart from a restaurant in London, Simurgh appears to be a mythical Iranian bird.
I’m missing something…
Ralph PlowmanParticipant“Or is Simurgh simply living up to its name afterall?”
What does Simurgh mean?
Ralph PlowmanParticipantVery nice.
Excellent choice of colours too!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantYeah, I suppose there aren’t many desert giant apes.
Giant bat demons are good though!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantI haven’t seen them, but I’m sure Michael can do them bettter! 😄
Ralph PlowmanParticipantExcellent news!
Have you considered big apes? There are a few of those mentioned in the tales.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantThat is a great piece.
I need to think of things I can mount on a 2p piece now.
Ralph PlowmanParticipantI suppose I could make another order later…
Ralph PlowmanParticipantIs it worth waiting for the Tribal Queen before I place my order for Crom and his workplace (and a few other bits and bobs, no doubt!)
Ralph PlowmanParticipantNice and compact. Got to love 15mm!
Ralph PlowmanParticipantNice to see it get underway.
What’s the overall width of the piece?
Ralph PlowmanParticipantThat looks superb. Can’t wait to see the finished item.
I can imagine the courtyard having a wooden floor that can be lifted to reveal a fighting pit for the weekend entertainment.
