Steve JohnsonParticipant
Great piece of work
Steve JohnsonParticipantMy entry is a scratch built 1/144th scale armoured draisine. The turret fully rotates and the coin in the foreground is a 1 pence piece. I have yet to decide upon a camo scheme, so it is still in basecoat primer.
Steve JohnsonParticipantI for one enjoy them and they tick the box for sci-fi games.
Steve JohnsonParticipantExcellent painting on a great range building range
Steve JohnsonParticipantI gave my 2mm stuff away last year! Will have to wait for May’s comp…

Steve JohnsonParticipantGreat report Alan on a good day out.
Steve JohnsonParticipant“Oh yeah, I remember you saying that, what was it again that put you off?”
Well the thing that really got us was that we has both used the online unit builder programme, and yet similar units were wildly different in games terms. This really unbalanced things as Craig’s units pretty much walked around the table, whilst I was unable to do much to affect them, yet they were alomost identical troops!!! Add in the fact that we couldn’t find things in the rulebook when we needed to, plus the game taking ages to play with no end in sight in terms of a victory for either side.
Shame really as they promised so much, but for us, delivered so little. I still prefer KR-16 for my skirmish games as they provide a fun game that can be finished in an evening.
Steve JohnsonParticipantThat is a very nice looking game!
Steve JohnsonParticipantWe tried Gruntz but they just didn’t work for us.
Steve JohnsonParticipant“Have you encountered any snobbery as a fantasy gamer from historical gamers, do you only play historicals but have zero issue with those that play fantasy?”
I play both ‘periods’ quite happily. Personally I prefer historical wargaming but still enjoy fantasy as it takes me back to my formative days as a wargamer. I have encountered snobbery from within and without both ‘periods’, but nowadays just ignore this and carry on enjoying my games.
Steve JohnsonParticipantI lve the containers with stuff growing in them. Very cool idea.
Steve JohnsonParticipantSome pics of a few of my much loved Mordheim waarband, painted a good few years ago now.

Steve JohnsonParticipantWell done to the Austrians!
Steve JohnsonParticipantTried watching it but just couldn’t get into it at all. Not really my period I think…
Steve JohnsonParticipantSome very, very nice work on display 🙂
Steve JohnsonParticipantHmmm, sounds interesting…
Steve JohnsonParticipantAs Paul said…
Steve JohnsonParticipantFair points Not Connard Sage. I forgot to mention that at Colours I always run a demo game, so don’t get to see that much of a show. Others I’ve attended, very few of the games attract for a whole variety of reasons. I rarely buy stuff at a show, except books that I might see on the B’n’B etc. It’s simply easier and often cheaper online, after factoring in petrol and entrance fees etc.
Steve JohnsonParticipantNot a good situation for any show to be in. Possibly too many shows almost back to back hits visitor numbers? Speaking to traders over the past few years a lot are cutting back on shows as the costs involved over all do not make it worth their while attending. this year for the first time I don’t really feel the need to attend a show. Salute was good to see last year but simply too big for me. My favourite is Colours which I plan to attend this year all being well.
Steve JohnsonParticipantExcellent stuff Michael.
Steve JohnsonParticipantLeven Miniatures would be my first port of call. Blotz make modern and futurish 6mm MDF buildings. I have a few that are quite nice. Hope this helps?
BTW, what rules are you planning on using? KR-16 or…..?
Steve JohnsonParticipantNow those are very nice:)
Steve JohnsonParticipant“Being new, and having an open-minded owner, I think we have an opportunity here to build up a diverse and interesting forum. But it is up to us to contribute and encourage a fun and gentlemanly tone to the place.”
Well said old chap:)
Steve JohnsonParticipant“So I am playing, for now you should see when you go to the forums a blue bar on the left, this indicates a forum with an unread topic in it.
Then when you click on the forum, you will see a blue bar next to the actual unread topic…”Well I can’t see anything like this I’m afraid….. 🙁
Steve JohnsonParticipantI visit TWW several times a day, along with the Pendraken, Blitzkreig Commander, Dux Rampant and Honours of War fora (forums?). All of these are pretty specific so I find the TWW ‘Wargaming news’ front page very useful to pick up info on stuff that I wouldn’t normally find via the aforementioned forums.
What TWW lacks (IMHO) is an ‘Unread posts’ button that all of the others have. As Michael has mentioned before, I could subscribe to the various boards and topics to receive updates via e-mail, but personally I hate my mail box being ‘bombarded’ in this manner. This is why I get daily digests from my Yahoo Groups to minimise this.
Possibly an ‘Unread Posts’ button would improve traffic, members, posts etc? Maybe it might be worth giving this a try to see if it makes any difference at all.
Just my two penneth for what it’s worth.
Steve JohnsonParticipantNice report Alan and great to see some more RJW action.
Steve JohnsonParticipantExcellent work.

Steve JohnsonParticipantThis is my current favourite piece of terrain and very much a work-in-progress in terms of style, finish etc. It is really for use with historical BBB games, where accurate terrain is relatively important. Hopefully the image will show as I can’t seem to make it appear as it used to do…
Steve JohnsonParticipantWargames with minis by and large, but sometimes kreigspiel type blocks for forces I don’t have painted up (which is lots!). Current rules I enjoy are:
– Bloody Big Battles for 19thC
– Honours of War for 18thC
– BKCII for SCW, AVBCW and WWII
– Dux bellorum for 6thC – 9thC
– Lion Rampant & Dragon Rampant for skirmish style gamesSteve JohnsonParticipantI can highly recommend BBB Guy. Very easy to get to grips with the core mechanics of the rules, which give great, closely fought games.
Steve JohnsonParticipantMy aim is to, broadly speaking:
– Set some background to the game.
– How the table was laid out and how both sides forces deployed.
– How the game played out Turn by Turn. Depending upon the rules used and the time available, I may make detailed notes or just rely upon the photos to jog my memory.
– Give some post game thoughts on how things panned out for both sides. What worked well, what didn’t etc. This could be in relation to the rules, the scenario, tactics used etc.Hope this helps?
Steve JohnsonParticipantThey would be of more interest to me as then I could fit them in with my style and size of terrain. Hope this helps?

Steve JohnsonParticipantNice looking game and interesting AAR. Thanks for sharing.
