ThuseldParticipant
6mm on a 2×2 table, but I do sometimes up that to 4×3 for Horizon Wars.

ThuseldParticipantTheory: Mick A actually invaded Editor Mike’s home and in a lightning strike of speed and genius took over the computer and announced himself as the “random winner”.
I demand a re-draw.

ThuseldParticipantI discovered the game in 2007 and picked up loads of ships in Germany, where I was living at the time. A year later I discovered the Star Wars Pocketmodel game, which is similar. I guess I got into them too late. But I have large connections of miniatures that will see use with other rules over the coming years. Especially at school in my wargaming club.

ThuseldParticipantI don’t understand where you managed to get a picture of my miniature from, but the likeness is uncanny. I much prefer without the numbers.

ThuseldParticipantI don’t have any pictures.
Cocktail straws, about the size from a Capri Sun juice. Small square beads with letters on are the perfect size for the straws. One bead on each end and glued onto a lolly stick and you can build a 6mm overland pipeline.
I have built loads of sort of desert domes using the lids from baby food fruit pouches. Photos to come.

ThuseldParticipantI enjoyed TFA for what it was: a love letter to the OT. I reckon we will get an extended edition at some point that may make it better. And the whole Han Solo thing was brilliant.
But yes, I am excited for Rogue One to just blow everything so far away. I worry it might actually be the best Star Wars film of the lot.

ThuseldParticipantI have experimented with adding garments, utility belts and smoothing out joints of old Star Wars Miniatures that I converted. But in reality I have never tried sculpting a figure or anything. I would love to try but time and space stop that. I would rather paint up some 6mm and have a throw down on the table.

ThuseldParticipantI am pleased with how they turned out. I might paint the uniform first, and then apply flesh. That is my only improvement so far. I will do that with the next bunch. Although I will probably leave it like this for now and paint my GIs. I should also paint the vehicles.

ThuseldParticipantI have to admit, I strangely enjoy this film. I love the relationships between the crewmen. I love how dirty it is.
On the other hand, the entire final act with the crossroads infuriates me to the point that I doubt I will watch it more than the couple of times I have seen it.

ThuseldParticipantI love this period and find it to be probably the most interesting episode in the history of post 1066 British Isles. I studied it at university and have ended up reading history books about it for my own pleasure in the years following. This is the only non 20th century historical episode that has captured my imagination and interest to such a degree (although the formation of the Bible is oddly fascinating to me).

ThuseldParticipantI used to be exclusively into WW2 in 20mm. That was nice. There were some bloggers I had contact with, and on my one trip down to the wargame club I met some nice people.
But the first time I ever really felt like a part of a wargaming community, and having come into contact with people who really share my interests was when I moved over to 6mm sci fi. While I still haven’t really met anyone, apart from one gentleman from my blog, I feel more connected. This is my community. I am running my own little universe using whatever rule sets I feel like and posting pictures of it online. I get very excited when people post AARs here, or their latest miniatures. I am excited for the possibility of actually meeting people at events over the coming year too.

ThuseldParticipantI watched it last night. I found it interesting. But if I am being honest I watched it mainly to see as much original WW2 footage as possible. I can’t get enough of that.
It did, however, excite me for my new 6mm WW2 project that will be underway in the coming months.

ThuseldParticipantIt looks like it was a quick, nasty skirmish. I am interested to see how everything pans out with the campaign. I am doing something similar, but after each battle the teams only have X amount of points that they can bring in to reinforce. There might be more available for victory points awarded too.
Your AARs are very interesting to me because I think we have similar tastes for our fictional universes.

ThuseldParticipantMy first attempt at this was refurbishing my brother’s Aifix Panther tank a few years ago. It had a snapped gun, broken driving cog, and is a shoddy kit anyway. The gun join was hidden with camo netting, and the cog was repaired with a metal pin. It looked much better, and that led me to purchase a bunch of other broken models…that then sat in a box and are now in my attic as I switched to 6mm. They will reemerge in a few years, when I have a bigger house and probably more time.

ThuseldParticipantHow is this person playing it? My first attempt at playing Mass Effect was as a sniper and ended very quickly. I found myself stuck in a cave somewhere and basically decided I hated the game. But then I played Mass Effect 2 and immediately went back and began the first one again, then played the second one as my character from the first (a biotic shotgun wielding badass).
I love the aesthetic of the universe and would play mine like that, but I also want to have Firefly-esque wild west planets.

ThuseldParticipantHow do you feel about eSports? There are games I will watch but not for the story. I watch them as I would watch a football or rugby match. Starcraft 2 is good for that, as are League of Legends, DOTA 2 and World of Tanks.
Other games I would watch for the story are Diablo 3, and I want to reiterate the Mass effect games. They tell such a wonderful story in such an enthralling universe.

ThuseldParticipantA playthrough of the Mass Effect trilogy might be up your street. I loved playing those games and the story of them sucked me right in. The ending of the 3rd one was controversial, but the hours and hours up until that are a wild ride.
The story of the Starcraft 2 trilogy is great, but it is an RTS game so the missions might not be your taste, although they might speak to a miniature gamer like yourself. I find a lot of inspiration from Starcraft.
I need to leave work and go home to cook dinner, but I will add more later tonight.

ThuseldParticipantArmypainter Quickshade was what I discovered in order to pick out shadows in my miniatures. That gave me more confidence. Then I switched to 6mm and do a couple of colours, weapons, visors, then wash it and dry brush with sand colour.

ThuseldParticipantIt is the HACME buildings. Love them.
As for my post, I see now I was tired and missed out an important detail. I have been gaming WW2 for years in 20mm. The plunge I took was converting to 6mm. And as for rules, I can’t decide between first tring Crossfire or Battle group Overlord,
