ParticipantThe only thing I can think of would be that a d10 is, typically, used in increments of 10%. This makes it easier for anyone to value their chances, rather having 12,5% (d8) or 16,7% (d6) etc.
With that said – it’s really just a lot of hot air. X-wing wouldn’t benefit from using a d10 anymore than Warhammer would benefit from using a d20 – the dice mechanics are not important, only the tactics, gameplay and speed of the game should be important.

ParticipantSome bits of odds and ends for various 28mm skirmish projects; some gun-toting militia men, shock troopers, chaoswarriors, an elf, an ogre and a gladiator. Had a bit of a painting break but I seem to be back in my stride again ๐

ParticipantI have to ask – how come that the Fantasy board is split up into two (General & Horror) whilst the science-fiction forum is on it’s own? ๐
(Oh, and this looks like a great forum/newspage, glad to be a member around here!)

ParticipantI prefer to use the excellent ‘God of Battles’ system by Jake Thornton for my bigger mass-battle affairs which I usually play with my 15mm armies. We even got a bit of a community going here in Denmark and there have been talks about a grand get together soon. My only caveat – and niggle – in regards to GOB is that it is a bit too limited in its approach to Fantasy; it’s firmly set to the ranges that Foundry produced/produces and thus it ends up being a bit narrow in its scope.
For my more skirmishy affairs I tend to use my own homebrew skirmish set that I’ve been working on/off over the years. It’s finally getting done after many a revision.
