Good question, I just saw the cover save rule that I had missed the first 5 read thru’s. So Shoot ,Hit ,Save if in cover…

Yeah, if the guy who takes the hit is in cover, 4+ save and he becomes pinned if he saves. (The rule was called “Oh Shit” in playtesting).

To elaborate on that, you assign the hits before rolling saves. So if a few guys are in the open and they take the hits, no save for them. Should have been behind the wall.

I have decided to start this topic for people to ask questions about the rules. And here is my first question: Squad Automatic weapons gain +2 Fire power dice. Are GPMG classed as SAWs or, as they are heavier weapons than SAWs, would they get a bit more fire power (+3 instead of +2 for example)?

Juuuuuust noticed this sorry. I thought I had this forum set up to email notify me.

My gut feeling is that if it’s carried by an infantry squad, it’s a SAW and is +2. Now, I could totally see giving GPMG a +3 (and in ww2, MG42 might get that too) so go for it.

A very weak SAW might only be +1. WW2 BAR will fit that. I thought about it for RPK’s but in the end, it seems they do just fine in the field so didn’t want to downgrade them.

As an aside, if the GPMG is set up on its own with plenty of ammo and a crew, rather than squad support, it becomes a crew served machine gun. Confused yet? 🙂

If you have any questions at all, let me know.

Only thing that looks obviously wrong is that the casualty check for insurgents doesn’t remove the whole squad, just what you rolled for the dice. If they roll a 1, they just remove 1 guy (who bails for the hills).

Other than that, I tend to set the forces up about 18″ apart for a good game where you can get to grips very quickly.

Mark i had a similar problem for my Cold War plans. I like Force on Force but it was too low level for me, likewise all other rules I looked at were tank-obsessed. Eventually, I stumbled on FUBAR which, with some amendments for larger games and extras like artillery, plays brilliantly. Have a look here http://jefslittlewinki.pbworks.com/w/page/80267060/Cold%20War for my take on FUBAR. It might be the sort of thing you are after. We are playing a game tomorrow to test out some of the funky new models I’ve just painted, so there may be a few amendments down the line. regards, Jef.

You know, if you’re in the market for some platoon level infantry action that is focused on the grunts with vehicles in support, I did write one of those *cough* No end in sight *cough*

    🙂

The WW2 and modern games we play are already scifi games, from the way we play them.

Photos for sure. Ideally I find that a simple undercoat rather than “bare metal” works better. Photos of a painted mini as well is a distinct plus but I don’t find it discourages me lacking them.

Be active and discuss your product. Show me what you are working on and what is coming up. I like buying from people who have some sort of vision and I like to know whether there’s upcoming stuff I can plan for or whether your product is a stand-alone thing.

Confirmation that I placed the order. Even if it’s just a copy/pasted form letter. I cannot stand ordering something and then hearing nothing for 3 weeks until the mailman delivers it.

Answer your **** email. It’s 2014. If you can’t respond to a customer enquiry, then don’t run a shop.

Paypal or similar options a must. It’s not the dark ages, cut it out with the cheques.

Don’t disparage another company’s product on your site.

For miniatures, size comparisons or one of those shots with the mini next to a ruler are nice. When figures in the same scale can vary so much, it becomes a hassle.

And a special pet hate: If I somehow have to have a facebook account to view your stuff or interact with you, I am convinced you are actually Saddam Hussein.

If you need, I can convert them to PDF format for you.

I spray paint/ base coat in black then do uniform or light dry brush . Then colors, it is faster for me and if I don’t get paint in a crease or crack it’s black shadow…

Totally. I like that it mutes the colours a bit too and since I play mostly 20th century, everything is some shade of mud, olive or grey anyways.

You prime in black? I knew I liked you for a reason.

Though I’ve been moving to off-whites and greys for smaller figures but black works super well.

Eureka modern Russians with some QRF mixed in, Eureka modern Australians and QRF west Germans. Grabbed some spray primer from the local store that I’ll test out on some old fig’s before mass primering these guys.

Also got about 40 new Laserburn guys but not sure what to do with those yet.

Awesome, glad you liked it 🙂

Movement sticks are a great idea. You could use a standard one that’s 3″ and have a 12″ grenade stick. Still need measuring for rushes but you can indicate 1 through 6 inches on the grenade stick.

I’ve been pondering making little explosions for pins. Not sure if it’d get too cluttered though.

    For your questions:

If a pin is allocated to an already pinned figure, they fall back 3″. They don’t get “double pinned”. (Double pins don’t break the game or anything, but it does make it much harder to push enemies out of a position)

And you are right, the SAW is +2. The ref sheet is wrong, I’ll fix it. (though I suppose +1 might work for something like an RPK or a ww2 BAR).

The 3″ moves catches people off guard but once everything clicks and you realize that you’ll get multiple moves, it works out. Its mostly a concern if you set up way too far apart and have to spend a long time moving into position.

Cover is indeed everything. You’ll realize just how big a problem one guy with an RPK can be, if he’s in the wrong spot and you need to get past.

If you’re up for doing an index, go for it. Make sure it has your name and the name of the game at the top is all.

Very interesting game. Having everyone be self-motivated is a very interesting perspective but makes perfect sense for a special forces type of affair.

Looks like a tense game too. Super interested (and slightly nervous) in hearing your feedback and feelings. 🙂

Nah, I wouldn’t do business with someone who was rude to me either. Part of why I avoid one of the gaming stores here in town (actually they were rude to my wife, while I was in the store buying stuff).

I think PP makes straight up foreign legion too, so maybe it’s them. They’re nice figures, provided you don’t mind the “running with mouth open” look they have going 🙂
