willzParticipantAn excellent post Jemima, a wonderful display of figures and talent.
willzParticipantAn excellent post, thanks for sharing such a wonderful looking game.
willzParticipantThat’s a fine selection of beautifully painted figures, love the flags.
willzParticipantAn excellent display of modelling.
willzParticipantMike a fine choice of prices, excellent value, nothing that some liquid green stuff and wood glue would not sort out.
willzParticipantCheers for your ramble Norm, I like PSC their products are evocative of Airfix and that’s how Will Townsend planned the marketing of his products.
Evocative of Airfix? Pffff. Airfix never listened to their customers the way PSC does, nor provided the variety of options in each kit, nor produced a well-thought out range of the kinds of vehicles wargamers need to have. All the best, John.
John what Will was on about was the clear plastic window on the back of his packets, which for me as a young boy was a joy to try and see the kit inside.
willzParticipantIts a game for fun, if you start having to record and remember whether you have loaded the gun or turned the turret each turn and on each tank the game stops being fun. Not having played this set of rules I do not know what movement time scale is based on, I for one would one would play the rules on the assumption that you could turn your turret and fire once a turn. If you want more complicated than that, build a full scale cardboard mock up of a tank turret and see how that works.

willzParticipantwillzParticipantDitto all of the above.
I love the relaxed, friendly and informative atmosphere of like minded gamers, modellers and hobby enthusiasts who frequent these hollowed pages and a big thank you to Mike for running the forum.
willzParticipantVery nice an excellent body of men.
willzParticipantSaw this in the flesh last weekend, sorry I didn’t get time to have a chat Piers but my stall was V busy. An excellent looking game, cheers for sharing.
willzParticipantYeah I got caught in that too. But it’s their server so they can do what they want. I deleted my account. A bit of a hassle, but Mike has graciously allowed us to post our photos directly, so no harm done in the long run!
Yes I shall deleting my account forthwith.
willzParticipantThis event is on in two days I will be there selling my unwanted but not unloved excess wargame items, at “Willz Wargame Loft”. Call in and have a chat I have shed loads of WWII 20mm tanks, vehicles and figures, Dark future board game, Adeptus Titanicus board games, Hero quest board game, 54mm Toy Soldiers, 20 / 28mm terrain and buildings and much more.
willzParticipantWelcome Brian to a most excellent and chilled forum, where everyone is welcoming and members are made to feel welcome. I look forward to reading you naval posts with interest.
Will.
willzParticipantThanks for an excellent AAR, fantastic photo’s JJ.
willzParticipantExcellent find, several new periods that I am going to have to try not and buy any figures for. They are wonderful prints.
willzParticipantNorm does the figure manufacturer use a release agent, maybe some of that is still on the figure. I have always wire brushed my metal figures before I undercoat and for 10+ years I have use acrylic spray primer (normally grey) as an undercoat. Also I leave my undercoated figures to dry for several days if not months before painting.
willzParticipant1/72 or 1/76 or 20mm figures have their advantages and disadvantages just like their 3mm, 6mm, 10mm, 15mm, 18mm, 25mm, 30mm, 32mm, 40mm, 54mm brethren or sisters. In the late sixties when I started playing with my toy soldiers generally all that was available was Airfix, Matchbox (70’s) and Britain’s / Timpo, lead wargaming figures were out of the price range for most of the people I knew who pushed their toys across the table or garden.
Plastic 1/72 or 1/76 or 20mm figures or whatever ever you call was and still is cheap and you get a shed load of figures for your cash, I learned and improved my painting and modelling skills on hacking, chopping, head swapping on Airfix figures, there is a whole host of headless, legless and body-less plastic figures in my bits boxes. I still worry that the ghosts of the plastic pieces will haunt me. As I earned money I was able to afford metal wargame figures but I always have a fondness for plastic 1/72 or 1/76 or 20mm figures and the choice of plastic figures available today is astounding.
Airfix and similar on show at Exeter May 2017 (sorry don’t know who’s game) but an excellent 1/72 or 1/76 or 20mm wargame.

Airfix, Revell, mountain troops.
Your have to love the 1/72 or 1/76 or 20mm plastic.
willzParticipantAn excellent read, cheers JJ.
willzParticipantThanks Norm an excellent report, very much appreciated.
willzParticipantVery nice, thanks for sharing.
willzParticipantLooking good, hopefully I will be able to pop over from my stand to have a butchers.
willzParticipantI have had a similar problem with Caesar plastic figures
William, are Caesar figures made of PVC? I don’t have any, but have been considering them for some time.
I have no idea what plastic material they are made of Tim, I can’t work out why they go shinny and tacky after using varnish. I like Caesar figures and can highly recommend them they are excellent figures, as I said I don’t varnish Caesar figures and always use a sharp knife when trimming of the few flash lines.
willzParticipantNoel I have had a similar problem with Caesar plastic figures, normally I matt varnish my figures. Sadly with Caesar figures after a few weeks the varnish turns from matt to gloss and the figure goes sticky. I undercoat all my figures and I think it must be the oils used in the making of the figure that is causing the reaction, I have tied to re-varnish but after a few weeks it go glossy and sticky again. My solution is not to varnish the figures and they stay matt and don’t go sticky. do you undercoat your figures, I thought it might be the acrylic paint/ varnish reacting with the plastic / PVC oils. I tried using enamel undercoat but the figures went glossy after I had varnished them, so it seems to be a reaction between the varnish and the plastic PVC?
willzParticipantAn excellent piece of fine modelling, thanks for sharing.
willzParticipantCheers JJ an other excellent battle report.
willzParticipantAll I do is select photo for email post (this compresses it) put that into a post folder and uploaded the photo to the forum.
Erbprinz senior officer and sergeant, Hinchcliffe and Tradition figure.
Worked for me Mike.
willzParticipantDoes a stray grenade “scatter” or “deviate” ?
No it just causes “panic” as it’s been drooped in the wrong place.
willzParticipantCheers for posting, an excellent body of men.
willzParticipantSome very nice stuff and inspirational ideas, thanks for sharing.
willzParticipantPartrice they are a less heroic style of figure more Anatomically correct, so they are more elegant shape and style.
willzParticipantI have often wondered that one myself John, either smaller less metal / plastic used cheaper? to produce. Or if its your own scale collectors have to buy your range of figures? As an open and diverse hobby we have not one set of wargame rules for each period (and nor should we), what hope do we have of getting figures the same scale or size As different sculptors are used I expect that also has an impact on the figure size, also what the figure manufacturer wants form his / her figure has to be thrown into the pot.
I use constructive basing to solve the height issues, smaller figures are place on thin card increasing height.
willzParticipantRogue trooper was my favourite Mike, closely followed by Judge Dreed.
willzParticipantHere are some comparison shots of Willie figures.
With Elite Miniatures.
With RSM figures.
With Warrior Miniatures.
With Crann Tara miniatures.
willzParticipantHow do the figures fit in with Minden or Crann Tara miniatures? Not in the same unit, but on a table with various units of different manufacturers?
I think they fit in ok, I am using them as command stands and not mixing them in other units. Over the weekend I will take some photo’s and post.
Have seen this 18th century forum, it is very friendly and vibrant. http://fifeanddrumminis.proboards.com/
willzParticipantCheers Patrice, they are taller and slimmer than most 28/30mm figures but they are true 30mm. However as I tend to use them for command stands and bases, so they do not look out of place.
willzParticipantCheers for your kind comment B6GOBOS, I only purchased 20 so I will be placing a bigger order.
