The solitaire rules for Combat Patrol are now available.

These are a FREE Combat Patrol supplement. There are two versions, one is printer friendly, and the other is pretty.
Enjoy this opportunity to play Combat Patrol while practising social distancing.

The supplement was designed for Combat Patrol. The double activation and other mechanics of Combat Patrol are ideally suited for solitaire play. But the supplement may be of interest even if you plan some lesser WWII skirmish rules.

Help spread the word!

This is the first month since I released the rules in which there were no sales for Combat Patrol. I have been happy with steady sales over the past couple of years. My theory has been that if the game grows in popularity slowly and steadily that that is better than a game that is a quick flash in the pan and then is forgotten. I think a lot of people have developed an interest in Combat Patrol by playing it at conventions and reading battle reports.

I have been in the midst of a move from Maryland to Florida for work, so I haven't been running games myself lately, but as soon as the move is over, I intend to start up again. Also, I have been a little focused on Albedo Combat Patrol (which is released), Feudal Patrol (which is soon to be released), and Wars of Ozz for Old Glory / Blue Moon.

Recall that we have professionally printed unit and vehicle cards for many of the belligerents of WWII. These can be purchased from the Sally 4th Web site. But you can get them for free. All you have to do is run a Combat Patrol game and then post your battle report on TMP, TWW, or some other online gaming forum. Send us the link to the battle report and your mailing address, and we will get you some cards in the mail ASAP. Publish more battle reports, and get more cards.

Feudal Patrol – Update

I just sent what I think is the penultimate version of Feudal Patrol to the play test group and Sally 4th for review. I am awaiting the graphics for the production cards from the artist I use. Once I have those, I can place them into the example images instead of images of my play test cards. Then the rules will be ready for final layout. I am hoping these will be in print by March or April.

Come and play some Feudal Patrol at Cold Wars (in March) in Lancaster, PA. I am also hoping to get to England for work in April and will try to attend either Partizan or Salute to demonstrate the rules. Nothing definite yet, however.

Combat Patrol – New Rules

A while back, we had a limited-audience play test of a set of rules I am developing for a figure company. Afterwards we threw some Romans and Celts on the table for another playlets of Feudal Patrol (TM), which is an adaptation of Combat Patrol (TM) for ancient, medieval, and fantasy skirmishing.
The Romans were like tanks, with the pila and the armor giving them a significant advantage, but there were twice as many Celts as there were Romans, and our numbers started to make a difference.

If you look closely at the pictures, you may see a wizard to two in there. We were also testing the magic spells.

The cards are just about ready for me to turn them over to the artist -- probably another month and a couple more games. Section one, the basic rules, is done, other than shooting photos for the figures. I am hoping to turn the book over to the layout artist in December.

I will be looking for folks to run Feudal Patrol games at conventions to help promote the rules.

Combat Patrol – Star Wars

After many months of development, we are happy to announce the release of the FREE Star Wars supplement for Combat Patrol(TM): World War II.  This supplement was written by Greg Priebe, a long-time Star Wars fan.  With this supplement, you can "recreate" your favorite skirmishes from the movies, television series, and comics.

This supplement uses the streamlined and intuitive mechanics of Combat Patrol(TM): World War II.  Cards are used, not just to control activation, but to resolve combat, conduct movement, check morale, etc.  There are not charts and tables to slow down the game.  You will find instructional videos and other free downloads on the rules' web page.

This supplement, like almost all of the other supplements for Combat Patrol(TM): WWII, is FREE.   You do need to own the basic rules and cards to play the game.  The supplement is 26 pages of background, weapons stats, vehicle stats, rules for Jedi powers, and other material.  This is a free download from either the rules' Web page or the Sally 4th Combat Patrol page.

To help you get started right away, we have provided a play through video demonstration of a Combat Patrol(TM) game using this supplement.  It is based on season 1, episode 1 of The Clone Wars in which Yoda and a handful of clones defeat a much larger droid force.  You will find a link to this video on the Combat Patrol Web page.   We think you will find this video -- combined with all the other instructional videos on the Web page -- is a good way to see the ease of play and intuitive mechanics of Combat Patrol(TM).

We have also pre-made the unit cards you will need for a platoon of clones, droids, rebels, and stormtroopers -- including a small number of vehicles.  These, too are available for free download.  Just print them out and start playing.

If you have a box full of the old Star Wars collectable miniatures, or you are looking to play bigger battles than are possible with Imperial Assault, the Star Wars supplement for Combat Patrol(TM): WWII will allow you to do so.  We have used the rules (and this supplement) for games with as few as two players and as many as 10.

This is a fan publication, and it is free.  We are not infringing on any IP from Lucas Films or Disney.

Don't forget to check out the play through video that is on the Web page.  You can also go directly to it at YouTube.

As a reminder, this is a supplement for Combat Patrol(TM): WWII.  You need the rules and cards to play the game.  There are a number of purchase options available.  You can order the sets of cards from DriveThru.  You can order starter sets from Sally 4th or On Military Matters.  Sally 4th sells individual Action Decks if you want to buy just one to try out the mechanics yourself.  Directions and links are on the rules Web page.

We hope you enjoy the supplement and enjoy the rules.  May the Force be with you, young Jedi.
