We've just sent Ancient Warfare off to the printer, and this time around, we've got a theme that's sure to please Roman army fans. Issue 15-4 continues our look at the rise of the Roman legion (started in AW 14-2) with a look at developments during the Republican era, including new research and perspectives on some long-held ideas about the Roman military during this period.

You can already pre-order this issue to receive cheap, flat-rate shipping worldwide.
Of course, taking out a subscription to Ancient Warfare is even better - and will guarantee lots of ancient military goodness for months to come.

Dear history fan!,

In the Northern Hemisphere, the dark days before Christmas have arrived (and dark they are here in the Netherlands with sunrise just before 8:30 AM and sundown by 4:30 PM!).

It's been another hard year for everyone, so to cheer you up a bit, we're running an Advent Calendar on our site across the four magazines. There might be a discount coupon, a video, a quiz, a podcast, or something else entirely hidden in each daily post. They'll only be up for one day, midnight to midnight GMT. The link will be announced via the Facebook and Twitter accounts for both Karwansaray and all magazines. Don't worry, we won't bother you with daily emails.

I hope you'll enjoy the Advent Calendar, and wish you happy holidays!
