Mike HeaddenParticipantI’d use Vallejo 995 German Grey myself. Might be a little lighter than that shown but I tend to go a shade or so lighter on smaller figures so it depends on the scale you are painting.

PatriceParticipantFor a very dark grey, almost black, I use 995 (“Gris allemand”) or 862 (“Gris noir”) from Prince August (that’s Vallejo for you).

A Lot of GaulParticipantI would recommend Army Painter Warpaints Hardened Carapace WP1430 or Necromancer Cloak WP1443. For a more metallic look, there is of course Gun Metal WP1131. Here is a copy of the AP colour chart, with the dark greys in the top row, and Gun Metal in the bottom row:

John D SaltParticipantFor a Matt finish I’d go along with Les Hammond’s recommendation of Humbrol Panzer Grey, but for weapons and the like I would tend towards Gunmetal.
All the best,
John.

MartinRParticipantVallejo panzer grey, or “German Grey” as they call it, dries almost black, as does its Humbrol equivalent.
