Many years ago I played a lot of Vietnam in 20mm, I never had more than a platoon so never got much beyond the skirmish level. Ive recently started afresh this time in 6mm, mainly so that I can play company actions, I haven’t really gotten my teeth into the project yet, but had done my first US platoon, pics etc here on my blog:

Didn’t have any issues with these at all, nicely cast, clear details, lovely to paint, I am finding the helo’s a bit tricky though and was not so impressed with the casting on the skids

Those are looking really great – the poses and proportions of the GHQ are very good – but as you say, a bit pricey – did you use a wash on the minis, or just straight painting? They’ve got a look that is straight out of Don McCullin photos of the time…
I’ve got quite a hoard of the ‘prone’ positioned Mainforce (now Magister Militum?) Vietnam figs tucked away somewhere – yet another project yet to get off the ground – I was always put off by the amount of jungle canopy I would have to make!
Thanks, they are painted Faded Olive with a light and uneven wash. Im planning on simply using my existing woodlands and making some cheap jungle like terrain from plastic fish tank plants, it wasn’t all triple canopy stuff over there so you can get away with little to no jungle if necessary.
