We recently played a First Carlist War game using Neil Thomas’s 19th century rules with a few home modifications, the scenario from the book was based on the battle of Alegria, the Isabelino forces had to exit two units off the opposite table edge in eight turns. Fuller details and more pics are on my blog if you have a few minutes to waste away http://newsfromthefront-phil.blogspot.ie/

I really like the Neil Thomas 19th Century rules.  I’ve been playing a few games of FPW with them and they really successfully model the differences between the Prussian and French armies.

I have even managed to win as the French the last two games by using my longer rifle range and using skirmishers to harass the Prussian artillery.

Winning with the French now that is an achievement, I’m impressed.

One of my opponents claims it is because I force the Prussians to field 2 units of Bavarians to even things up…
