If you are interested in War Game rules for the Ancient period there is a review of Simon MacDowell’s Civitates Bellantes on my blog.
MacDowell’s Comitatus rules for the Migration Era were well received and Civitates Bellantes uses many of the same mechanisms.
If you would like to read the review here is the link.

I’d forgotten about these rules! I do remember considering them, but ultimately didn’t, for some unknown reason lost in the mists of time. (Or my middle aged brain). I did like Comitatus.
Your review was both concise and thorough. I’m looking forward to a possible battle report, to see it put through its paces. Thanks!
Thanks Tony, a battle report will appear soon.

Thanks for the review OB, I have downloaded these and his Tree of Battles WotR rules, and have a hard copy of Comitatus, all interesting rules.
Cheers Cyrus. Yes, he writes good period specific rules. I’ve downloaded Tree of Battles too.
