This is new feature being trialled by Google as competition for Pinterest:

“Looking for the best coffee roasters, learning about high-end audio or money management requires a good amount of research and personal recommendations. Keen is a space for things that extend beyond a few searches or inspiring visuals. Keen is about longer pursuits – the things you take with you and the things you’re always looking for.”

It’s meant to use some form of AI to prompt the owner with potential items, called “gems”, that they can add.  It should get better as time goes on and the AI learned what’s good etc.  As far as I can see I don’t think you need a google account to access the sites.

Anyway, after a bit of messing about I set up two public Keens:

So far the flag keen basically duplicates the section in the main keen.

I’m not sure if I’ll separate the two; it’s too early to tell how popular they’ll be.  The first one has gained 30 followers without me publicising it, apart from the odd mention on twitter, so I suppose time will tell.

Giving it a try, thanks for the heads up.
