First Scenario for Italy’s Great War scenario book. Sciara Sciat, outside Tripoli. 4 Regiments of Italian Line Infantry, (6th, 40th, 82nd and 84th Regiments) along with 2 Battalions of Bergalieri and 2 Batteries of Artillery hold the outer line. Support inside Tripoli amounted to 3 Battalions of Naval Infantry and at sea the cruiser Garibaldi is a “Possible” re-enforcement (just to add a bit of extra flavour). The Ottoman forces number approximately 12000 with about 4000 regulars supported by 8000 Libyan locals. Approx 1000 to 1500 Libyans had infiltrated the rear of the Italian line with local insurgents, a further 2500 to 3000 Horsemen launched an assault on the Italian line while the 4000 Ottoman Regulars and a further 4000 Libyans assaulted the 3rd Bersaglieri’s 2 Battalions. Historic results were that the line almost broke and 2 Battalions of Naval Infantry along with 3 Battalions of the 82nd  Regiment managed to stabilize the line, but not before 500 Bersaglieri had been killed and another 250 captured.

Not an action I’d heard of – thanks! Great to see such forgotten corners of history getting attention. And do I spot some camelry in action? Excellent!
