Came across a trio of photos showing both Allies and Axis forces towing “liberated” civilian camping trailers (“caravans” in the UK) during the War. Seems like these would be brilliant for objectives, if not something to put onto the table as rear HQ.

Brilliant find and they would be great to model for command stand, or as objectives as you say.01/09/2018 at 21:31 #98267MikeKeymaster01/09/2018 at 21:38 #98270kyoteblueParticipant

The German ‘model railroad’ companies (eg Preiser, Busch) will make suitable models.02/09/2018 at 06:40 #98290
Funny thing, Etranger, is that I game in 1/87. I’ve done a quick look and not found a 1930s-40s model yet. Of course, I’m not entirely positive that I’d know what to look for aside from the lack of propane tanks on the front.

The earliest ones I could find on a quick look were c1950 by the look of them, but they might well be a suitable starting point.

Looks great, and the car in OD would make a great command vehicle.02/09/2018 at 17:15 #98332CerdicParticipant
That’s all well and good, but can you play conkers with ’em?02/09/2018 at 18:24 #98342
I found the Wiking one, but I think the two-tone is almost exclusively post-war.
Eko (of Spain) offers this one https://www.walthers.com/single-axle-camping-trailer-2-color-finish-assembled
But there’s an unpainted version for even less, that could go plain white or dull silver and call it done.

The Germans had their own bespoke C&C caravans.
Wiking also have this in OO

Here are some suitable trailers for 6mm
And some potential campers (caravans?)
A little smaller
And this one looks good for a long trip, maybe even to Beverly, Hills that is;
I am sure other companies make similar but I had quick access and good pictures to the above.03/09/2018 at 00:28 #98371

It’s a 1950’s Volvo & the Swedes did indeed use them as staff cars.03/09/2018 at 00:29 #9837203/09/2018 at 18:06 #98423
