Interesting question. I’ve thought about asking a similar question “How much of your hobby time is spent on the different aspects of Wargaming?”
However, for this question, I’d have to say it is the rules. I like reading rules, modifying rules, playtesting rules and writing my own rules for wargames.
As others have said I liked building military models playing with toy soldiers, and reading the history of battles. I also liked maps, especially maps of battles as well as model train terrain (though not the trains themselves). Before I found wargaming I played Risk, Battleship, and Tank Battle. When I came across a copy of Wargamers Digest in Sept of 1979 and I found I could combine all of the above I was hooked.
I rarely get to play, but I love collecting wargame rules, miniatures, and boardgames and my favorite thing is creating or tinkering with rule sets.
When does SciFi Start?
It starts when you say, “What if?”
I’ve been going to your site for 10 years and have appreciated its simple layout and large amount of links to rule sets. I’m not a big fan of Wiki’s but I understand why it is best to go this route and am glad you took this approach rather than abandoning the site all together.
Thanks for all your hard work!
