Reworked 40mm Greek hoplite leaders
Work on remastering the 40mm former Flashing Blade range continues at Fighting 15s with reworked versions of the Greek hoplite leaders. We’ve made new moulds and sorted out the issues with the fit of the arms in the shoulder joints.
The codes for the leader are now:
GRK001 Greek hoplite leader with spear at rest
GRK002 Greek hoplite leader with sword
GRK003 Greek hoplite leader with raised spear
Figures are £3.50 each inc VAT. They are supplied with a random helmet crest and a choice of shield arms, although the outstretched arm works best with GRK001.
Fighting 15s now stocks a select range of premium laser-cut 3mm-thick MDF bases from Warbases. The bases are ideal for many ancients to Renaissance games, and therefore for the Gladiator Miniatures line of 15mm figures, and for our own Martian Empires game.
Sizes available and quantities per pack are 40mm x 15mm in 24s, 40mm x 20mm in 20s, 40mm x 30mm in 18s, and 40mm x 40mm in 16s. Packs cost £1.75 each including VAT.
The bases are listed both under Gladiator Miniatures and Martian Empires in the online shop.
Warbases is a business we’ve used many times in the past and we like the quality of their products and respect their professionalism. We’d rather use them than start running a laser cutter for the first time and risk burning down the workshop.
British 15mm paper flags for the War of Spanish Succession are now available in the Fighting 15s shop. The flags cover both the pre-1807 Union and post-1807 Union variants for the regiments of foot.
The range comprises 24 different sheets, each depicting the Colonel’s, Lieutenant-Colonel’s and Major’s colours for four regiments, making 12 flags per sheet. Each sheet costs £4.00 including VAT.
The flags sheets are mainly listed according to the regiment numbers later adopted, with the regimental names listed in the full description. For example, sheet F101 includes flags for the Earl of Orkney’s regiment (later 1st Royal Scots), Sir Henry Bellasis’ (The Queen Dowager’s) regiment (later 2nd foot), Charles Churchill’s regiment (later 3rd foot) and Henry Trelawny’s (The Queen’s Own) regiment, later 4th foot. The sheet is identified in the shop as 1st to 4th foot to avoid a massive product title.
The flags partner our Gladiator Miniatures 15mm wargames figures for the Marlburian period. They are particularly suited to the newly remastered WSS003 Infantry Command I, a multi-national pack for all non-French infantry.
Reworked 40mm Greek Hoplites
Hell is other people’s moulds. It seems unbelievable that Fighting 15s has limped along with some of the moulds it acquired from Flashing Blade in 2012 for so long, but now we’re setting our own pace we’ve found time to rework some of the more troublesome ones.
First up is GRK007 Greek Hoplite attacking. A curious design decision on the ball-and-socket joints for the arms means that this code has never fitted together well, and the mould design has meant all the neck cavities have filled in: we’ve been quietly drilling them out for years and mentally noting that the mould is first up against the wall when the revolution comes. Well, the old one was given a last cigarette a few days ago and replaced with two new moulds to provide maximum variety.
Fighting 15s is now able to provide four variants for this code, as follows:

GRK007C Greek hoplite attacking with sword
GRK007D Greek hoplite attacking with sword held high
Figures are £3.50 each including VAT. All are multi-part white metal kits that require assembly.
Also updated are pictures for the variants for GRK005 Greek hoplite leaning on back leg, and GRK006 Greek hoplite lungeing, both of which are also produced from moulds made by Fighting 15s. It’s clear that from the parts available there are more possible variations than currently available, and as we produce new moulds for the range we will be expanding the options where possible and updating the pictures.
