    Sikh Wars

What do you do when you unexpectedly march your column across the front of Sikh entrenchments bristling with cannon?  If you’re General Harry Smith you make a mental note to shoot your guides and move as fast as you can for the safety of rough ground.

Using Field of battle I refought the Battle of Bhudowal trying to stay within the actions of Generals Singh and Smith.  It was a lot of fun so much so that I will play a further two battles of Bhudowal one with the British attacking and the other with the Sikhs on the offensive.

Here’s the link if this sort of thing is your cup of tea.

Very nice. I played a game loosely based on this encounter a couple of weeks ago, in 28mm. http://Www.carryingsonupthedale.com

Thanks Colin.  Yes, I read your Sikh War stuff and enjoyed the AAR’s and the pic’s.  It’s inspired me to get some limbers for my horse artillery it looks so much better.

For anyone reading who is mildly or even wildly interested in the Anglo Sikh Wars the latest Osprey is a very good buy.

It’s called The First Anglo Sikh War and is written by David Smith with excellent illustrations by Steve Noon.  The text is informed and well written and there are also good battle maps for all the major engagements.

A great little resource in an accessible and affordable format.
