Press Release: Sally 4th 28mm scale US Arts & Craft Style buildings released.

Two new modern building kits join Sally 4th’s range of 28mm kits this week, based on US housing in the Arts & Crafts style, these models will suit gaming in many parts of the USA from 1890 to the present day. Both buildings are based on ‘The Prairie School’ of architecture, championed by Frank Lloyd Wright and other influential architects at the turn of the 20th century. This style of architecture was extremely popular particularly in Chicago and California, making the buildings ideal for both 1920’s Gangster era gaming as well as modern era pulp gaming and zombie apocalypse games such as ‘The Walking Dead’

Both of these designs are also available in 15mm scale.
Single Story Arts & Crafts Style House – RRP £30
Footprint: 188mm x 290mm.
Features removable roof and full interior.

Two Story Arts & Crafts Style House – RRP £40
Footprint: 188mm x 290mm.
Features removable roof and 1st floor full interior including internal staircase.
Both models are supplied in kit form and are made from 2mm MDF.

Really Useful Box Conversion Kits

Really Useful box conversion kits are released this week.

These conversion kits take a Really Useful Box to the next level of usefulness! They allow two layers of figures to be stored safely and securely, each layer also being easy to lift out. This MDF kit is very easy to assemble and only needs some wood glue.

The space inside a conversion kit allows for two inserts to sit snugly side by side on both the top and bottom layer. The idea behind this is that you can have two different inserts per layer. The height of each layer is 70mm.
It is designed to fit inside a 9 litre Really Useful Box.

At the moment we have listed an insert for storing figures based on 25mm round bases. Each insert has slots for 36 miniatures, so a converted Really Useful Box with 4 inserts inside it would have slots for 144 miniatures.

We have a lot more inserts designed and are happy to make any of the 40+ storage inserts that are currently available for our Warchest Figure Storage range to fit these boxes. These inserts include round, square, oval, hexagonal slots in every size imaginable together with special inserts to suit X-Wing, Star Trek Attack Wing, Wings of Glory, Sails of Glory and many other games and of course if we have not got an insert available that suits your needs, we are always willing to design one and add it to the range.

Two level conversion kit RRP £14
Insert RRP £3

Free Rules Supplement for WW2 South Pacific

This week sees the release of the new Combat Patrol supplement for gaming platoon level engagements set in the Second World War Pacific Theatre of Operations.

Fighting in the South Pacific during World War II was unique compared to other theatres, even other parts of the Pacific.  This supplement includes rules that represent the unique nature of Japanese morale, Banzai! charges, suicide anti-tank attacks, night infiltration, vehicle-mounted flame throwers, and other rules. The Banzai! charge rules strike a good balance between effectiveness without overpowering the charge and making the Japanese invincible.

Of these new rules, the most significant are those for Japanese morale.  The basic morale rules work very well for other theatres, including China, Burma, and India.  In Combat Patrol™ morale failure is represented more as a loss of cohesion than a sudden, unexpected retreat.  As units take morale checks, the unit gradually dissolves or stops responding to commands.  Japanese morale failure in the South Pacific seems to have been more unit oriented than individual; the unit leader will decide to retreat, take cover, or assault the enemy in response to fire rather than individuals melting into the jungle.  The new morale results reflect this.

Japanese Action Deck RRP £6.50

In Combat Patrol™: World War II, cards in an Action Deck are used by players to resolve shooting, determine movement distance, conduct hand-to-hand combat, and check morale.  This eliminates the need for charts and tables.  Each player has an Action Deck that he uses to resolve these actions.  New decks are now available for gamers using a Japanese army. The parts of the cards that deal with small arms fire, melee, HE, movement and cover saves are the same as all of the other Combat Patrol decks, but the Morale section is unique to reflect the rules for Japanese morale. The new cards are optional as existing cards can be used to cross reference the Japanese morale rules in the supplement, but having the specific cards makes morale tests a lot easier.

Sally 4th has released two new accessories for Combat Patrol players this week.

Combat Patrol Card Dispenser £10 RRP – Easy to assemble MDF kit to make a handy and attractive card dispenser in the shape of a bridge to keep your action deck and discards tidy on the gaming table and easy to move around with you to where the action is.

Combat Patrol Card, Token and Dice Storage £15 RRP – Easy to assemble MDF kit styled on the vintage card index, and including drawer with dividers to hold dice and counters and a set of index card dividers.  The set includes five dividers, four marked as Action and one as Activation.

As usual the supplement is available as a free to download PDF file, the new cards and the Combat Patrol card dispenser and  card and token box are available to purchase from Sally 4th website HERE and we will have them with us at shows including ‘The Other Partizan’ on Sunday 20th August.

The PDF download is also available from Buck Surdu’s website HERE

The Japanese action deck can also be purchased from Drive Thru cards HERE

Secondly, a set of Western Skirmish rules have been added as a free download. These allow games set in the old west to be played using Combat Patrol core rules and action decks.

Terra-Former KS Update

Terra-Formers are designed to make it easy to produce high quality, versatile wargames terrain that fits together perfectly and stays together while in use.

The system is based around precision laser cut frames that are made from a base and four sides that have different profiles (flat, hill slope, road, river, stream, canal etc). These profiles mean that each tile that you make will line up perfectly with the tile next to it that has the same profile. The side pieces each have two holes to fix the rare earth magnets in that are supplied with each kit. The rare earth magnets hold the tiles together when the terrain is being used.

Our Kick Starter campaign was funded in the first couple of hours and since then we have been developing suggestions from backers to develop terrain tiles to suit a wide range of periods, scales and genres.

New tiles added over the last couple of weeks include underground bunkers, cliffs, caves, beaches and hill crests.

Photos showing new Terra-Former tiles.

Kick Starter campaign finishes on 30th June at 10:38
