    Brings back memories of Last of the Mohicans, although I have no idea what kid of warfare went on in that era. I’m guessing rank and files like the 18th cen but the Indians were probably skirmishers.

    I can’t speak for Ivan but I think “Scum of the Earth” might work.

    I think the things you need to get right are the differing performances of regulars, Militia and irregular in different terrain.
