At the start of March I got a couple of pre-painted SYW 20mm figures from ebay, this enthused me to start painting the several hundred Revell and Zvezda 20mm plastic figures I had in the to do boxes.  After several weeks this is where I am up to.

The first two regiments I bought pre-panted, ink wash and re-based.

This unit off ebay, ink wash and re-based and a new flag added.  Nassau-Weilburg infantry.

All the rest are painted by me.

Painted these Prussian artillery converted from Revel Austrians.

My first unit of Revell Austrians.

    Bulkeley Irish, Zvezda.

    Prussian 1st infantry, Revell.

Prussian 1st infantry 2nd battalion, Revell.

    St-germain, Zvezda.

    Prinz Georg Grenadiers, Revell.

    Wurttemberg Lieb grenadiers, Revell.

    Diesbach grenadiers, Revell.

    D’eu infantry, Zvezda.

    French artillery, Revell.

    French Militia Royal grenadiers, Zvezda.

    Lovely stuff!

And not one on steroids like their metal brethren.

I love the proportions of (most) plastic 20mm, 1/72, 1/76 – actually look like people (which is ironic as I resemble a Mike’s Models 15mm Renaissance figure these days).

Beautiful jobs. They are looking like little vignettes! Which is a pretty awesome effect.

Finished some more off over the past weeks.  First up AWI / Tiberian rebels, using Imex, Revell figures, cannons from the bits box.  I had a choice of blue, red or wood for cannon colours but settled on blue as it covers up more mistakes.

Next up a Brigadier colonel generic for AWI or Tiberian rebels.  Revell Austrian on a Napoleonic horse.

Next for my imagination army, 1st Tiberian bathing auxiliary laundry company.  Revell Austrian artillery conversion and parts from a HAT pontoon wagon.

Bought a couple of boxes of Strelets 20mm WSS infantry, very nice figures.
My only criticism is that the musket strap is on the left of the musket? not on the bottom.  I did not want to trim the straps off so I just painted them as were provided.
Two regiments (only started as one but half way though I noticed that the pockets on the figures I had selected were different, hence two regiments of foot).
La Couronne and La Royal, 4 grenadiers are in each unit.

    Royal.

    La Couronne.

How do the metal 20mm figures compare to the plastic 1/72 figures? My group has been looking to supplement missing plastic figures with metal ones but haven’t found sources.

I do not have any metal 1/72 18th century figures,  so I can’t make a judgement.  Though I believe on this site there are some comparisons and I think they sell 1/72 metal figures.

Got these Airfix hussar figures of an ebay sale, part painted.  I have repainted them as the Prussian Malachchowski Hussars during SYW, the flag I found on internet, nothing to do with the regiment but I liked it (I know for a period Prussian hussars did not carry standards).
The trumpeter should be on a grey horse but I had finished painting the figure when I realised I had not painted a grey, a bit of artistic licence for the uniform and horse colours won’t effect how the fight.  I think they turned out ok for the age of the figures.

Finished these this week, Dauphin Dragoons French regiment in Tiberian service.  Figures are Zvezda GNW Swedish converted by paint, lots of artistic licence when it comes to the uniform.

Finished these last week Airfix AWI British Grenadiers, painted as the Royal Irish and given a flag as I like my regiments to have flag.

These were finished a few weeks ago loosely based on Berchency hussars circa 1740, Airfix figures, the trumpeter is a Revell figure the regiment painted with some with artistic licence.  The flag is temporary as my printer was broken and the flag is all I had spare.

They are beautiful, but you are painting too many, too quickly, and showing up the rest of us! (well, me anyway…)
