Hello,

Has anyone played a game about The Battle of Khalkhin Gol? USSR vs. Japan in the Summer of 1939? This topis is so rare, but there is a new game on KS, check it out:

Board Game Geek shows about a dozen titles that cover this conflict. I just googled “the battle of khalkin gol bgg” and that led me to a discussion of the different games. Note this is not scenarios for miniatures gaming.

We did Khalkhin Gol a few times with Ostfront long ago, it was a walk-over for the Soviets each time – Japanese just couldn’t deal with all those light tanks and all their machine guns…

For some reason, I find that brief border squabble interesting as well.  (Admittedly, I find most obscure conflicts interesting).

I think it’s one of those campaigns that might work best at as lower level, platoon perhaps company action, where the Japanese might have local parity.
