More WW2 Russians and a couple of updates
30th Sep 2022

The first business of the day is this week’s Magic Number - #21965.  As usual we do have a couple of orders prior to this that didn’t quite make the cut, so don’t panic if you have an earlier number and no notification of dispatch.  It will all be corrected next week.

Before we get on to this week’s new releases, it’s time for an update on card payments on the Baccus site.  We can now accept all UK based card payments with no problems.  However, there still seems to be an issue with overseas payments via this method.   The tech chap has resorted to poking a sharpened stick into the site gubbins, stirring it around a bit and whistling tunelessly through his teeth.  I am told that will soon sort things, and I will give more updates as they come through.  In the meantime, if anyone outside of the UK is having difficulties and does not have access to a Paypal account, please email us at [email protected] and we will try and get things moving for you.

Last week’s release of our WW2 Russian infantry caused quite a bit of excitement judging from the correspondence and orders.  For those of you who are curious, yes, we do intend to do a full range, including all the Lend-lease kit and it will include aircraft at some stage.

For the meantime, this week’s new codes are all Anti-Tank guns:

You can find all the details here and more artillery to come next week!

We are now well and truly into the hectic UK Autumn show season which means that there will be an almost constant plea from me to get any orders for collection a forthcoming shows into us nice and early.   The next show on the horizon is Partizan at Newark on the 9th October, followed just a couple of weeks after by Fiasco in Leeds.    Remember that the maximum number of single code packs that we take a show is four, and most are less than that.  Rolling up asking for ten packs of French line infantry is just setting yourself up for disappointment!

Gentlemen, start your engines (and check your air filters)… it's time to fight in the desert.

Today we are pleased to announce the arrival of the new Bolt Action starter box; A Gentleman's War.

A Gentleman's War focuses on the action fought across the parched, dusty campaign in the Western Desert during World War II. This Bolt Action starter set pits the forces of the British 8th Army (more commonly known as The Desert Rats) against their Axis foes, the German Deutsche Afrika Korps. Although the fighting in this theatre was intense it tended to lack the fanaticism and atrocities seen in other theatres of the war and became known as a gentleman's war.
This new starter box includes everything a new player needs to play a game of Bolt Action in the desert. It's also a great (and economical) way for an existing player to move into the desert theater, and get a few order dice and handy paperback rulebook as a bonus.

It's time to open the Ostfront!
23rd Sep 2022

It’s back to new releases this week, but before we get into this, there are some ‘housekeeping’ issues to deal with. Firstly, this week we have reached order number #21900.

We are currently having some problems with the Baccus shopping cart, which means that some of you trying to place orders using a credit or debit card have not been able to complete the transaction. Work is going on behind the scenes to get this fixed, so please bear with us. The cart is working perfectly if you use Paypal, and for the moment we would suggest that you use that means of payment if possible. Alternatively we can take card orders over the phone during office hours. I will post an update as soon as we get back to normal.

With that out of the way, it’s time for this week’s new releases. It’s time to visit the Ostfront! Our Russian infantry and support weapons are now all available.
As well as the usual infantry, and support weapons, we have some codes specific to the Russian army in the shape of dedicated SMG armed figures and some fearsome armoured Combat Engineers.

As is usual for us, we’ve packaged these together in an all-arms company pack.
Coming behind these will be artillery and vehicles, and this range will form a central part of our new releases for the Autumn season.
I’ll finish today by pointing out that the Partizan show in Newark is now just two weeks away, so if you want to place an order for collection, now would be a very good time!

Gamers who follow us on social media will have seen how busy we are preparing for our trip to Arnhem next week, but this isn't a battlefield challenge or a jolly trip to sample the local beer. Our expedition sees us introduce wargaming to the visitors to the Airborne Museum at the Hartenstein Hotel in Oosterbeek for the very first time.

Why not catch up on the preparations with Lard Island News HERE
