Maximum posting length

A question for the Editor, which I am putting here because other people might want to know the answer —

Is there a maximum length limit for forum postings?

I ask because I have been trying and failing to post a reply on the “Fireteam” thread in the WWII forum. The combined effects of painkillers, insomnia and my perpetual battle against concision of expression mean that the posting came in an 1670 words, which would be too short for an A level essay, but might be too long for a forum posting.

Subsidiary question — if there is a length limit, what is it?

Not aware of any length restrictions, what happens when you hit submit, is there any error message?

The error mesage is:

“ERROR: Your reply cannot be created at this time.”

…which serves the dual purpose of giving me no information on what’s gone wrong, and annoying me by saying “at this time” instead of “now”.

Ah, that is normally a spam issue due to some content in the post being flagged up…
Do you want to e-mail me the message and I will see if I can find the culprit word(s) ?

that’s causing the problem.

I found the error.
The spam settings have many iffy words in there, one of them being “cialis” which is a dodgy drug.
I get a lot of people using that as an e-mail address so I banned that word.
However…

The word that was stopping your post was specialist.   Or as the forum reads it specialist.

I have removed cialis from the list.

Can you specify blanks at either end of the naughty word? Then you could filter out ” cialis “, but allow specialist, socialist, provinicalist and multiracialism, unless those are considered naughty for some other reason.

There are 2 spam filter processes, one is a straight up you can’t even post it, the other is where the post is allowed but goes pending and awaits for a mod to approve it.
I forget to remove it from the pending list, in my defence I was cooking dinner and got flustered.
