It’s suddenly occurred to me that after painting yet more Germans for King Louis, it doesn’t seem as though there were many actual Frenchmen in the French Army of the Seven Years War… ๐

Very nice one of my favourite cavalry regiments.
If I remember the argument put forward by the French at the time was that each ‘mercenary’ hired was worth three men
one more soldier fighting for France
one less soldier fighting for anybody else
one more Frenchman working productively and supporting the state
