Yeah, I got a bit lazy on my paint thinning and it shows.

I painted these on the go between trains and the paints in my travel kit are in need of replacement too.

The pots have started to crack, which makes the paint dry out, which in turn makes mixing and thinning them a pain.

Exuses, exuses I know but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it

    Cheers,

    Stroezie.

I went back and read the whole post from beginning. I love those ships, very inspiring. The little details like rope around the base of the mast made it great. One of these days you’ve got to take a photo of your entire Conan collection, I bet it’s impressive.

Also got me checking Pocket Dungeon Quest.

    Threadomancy warning

Well, I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Croms Anvil, so I decided to open up the Box of Shame and see if I could maybe finish some minis I had already started before the new shinies arrived.

    Here’s the first group

I’m thinking of using these as Conan (Crom’s Anvil), Belit (Battle Valor) and her Black Reavers (Blue Moon).

    More to come soon…          …maybe😉

    Cheers,
    Stroezie.

    Coolio!!

Looking at the tracking, it seems the shinies are imminent!

That choice for Belit seems more sensible than most of the other miniatures I have seen people use.
I never could buy into the official versions of her.

    The Hatun has a Secret…

Surely such a mighty warrior as you need not fear a soft female such as me.
Why don’t you join me on the pillows and perhaps we can find a more pleasurable way to settle our differences.

Then when our brave hero’s back is turned…

When I first saw the Hatun Yasmina figure it immediately made me think of the 5e D&D artwork for the Lamia. I still had some lion miniatures sticking in the leadpile so I decided to order two Yasmina’s and see if I couldn’t make something happen.

The terrain was a test to see if I could make a set of tiles and scatter that better represents the kind of opulent palace that conan likes to sneak into in search of oppertunities😇

I had fun making them so you may expect to see more like these in the future.

    Cheers,
    Stroezie.

That’s a really nice bit of conversion there, looks seamless!

The tile does very much look like the kind of place you might find Conan sneaking around in, love the paint job

Thanks, please feel free to steal away .

Also if anyone has more idea’s for palace scatter terrain feel free to post them here.

I decided to add two more pics to my blog post so I’ll add them here to.

    Cheers,

    Stroezie.

That rug seems to have a very real fabric worn texture effect.
    How you do that?

That rug seems to have a very real fabric worn texture effect. How you do that?

I primed it with unthinned gesso straight out of the pot.

Lay it on thick with horizontal brush strokes, wait for it to partially dry and do a second layer with vertical strokes.

This gives just enough texture to look like woven fabric.

The rest of the faded look is me not having the patience to wait until my cheap craft paints were fully dry before applying the varnish.

    Cheers,

    Stroezie.

I was going to ask the same about the weave patter, very cool.
For ideas, maybe a milk bath or cart of luxury food?

As for more bits and bobs…

    Moar cushions!
Hanging silks/banners, maybe make a back wall with drapery?
    Ornate incense burners/braziers.
    Big vases.

Can’t help feel some statues on either side of the rug would be impressive.

More minis from the box of shame.
This time a trader with his camel train and somen beastmen to waylay him.

I also made some table funishings and a table and painted some large pots for my palace tiles.

And did a little conversion, a Crom’s Anvil bodyguard became a Genie.

The lamp is a bit oversized, but I can reason that away due to the magical effects of the genie emerging from the lamp so that’s O.K.😉

I ordered a whole bunch of beads over on Ali Express to make wall decorations and colums and maybe even some more small knicknacks for the palace tiles but they’ll take a while to arrive so that project may have to wait a bit.

No worries, I have plenty of orther things to keep me busy.

    Cheers,
    Stroezie.

    So Much Win!!

Who makes the camels, and the sultan looking dude?

    The genie is genius 😀

I am surprised you have not added a snake to one of those jars, sticking its head out…

The sultan looking dude has moved to another owner since I bought him but I managed to track him down for you

    https://www.stonewallfigures.co.uk/shop/capitan-15mm-naval-crews/15mm-napoeonic-naval-crews/bereber-officers/

Sadly there was only one of him in the pack I got, I still have two of the chap with the shamshir and mace in the leadpile though.

The camels alas I have no clue where I got them anymore.

I am surprised you have not added a snake to one of those jars, sticking its head out…

I was actually thinking more along the lines of a basket with a snake but….             …maybe….

    Cheers,

    Stroezie.
