I received my paints yesterday. Thanks Mike and Black Hat I look forward to playing with them!
Many thanks guys, much appreciated 😁
I call foul! I don’t have a painting area, I have a dining table in the kitchen that I have to clear after every painting session!
About another three hours got me to this point, nearly there.

You Sir, make me sick, next you will be telling me how easy it is to get that effect and that it took no time at all, swine!
Thank you, I think 😋
I used to consider glazing to be some kind of witchcraft until I sat down and watched someone doing it on a Twitch live stream. It’s fairly straight forward once you have a couple of hours practice under your belt, but it is a time consuming process. One shoulder takes me about two hours.
That is amazing! How do you achieve such shading effect?
The purple is shaded with Oxford blue, built up in glazes. The hilights were also glazed in by adding white to the original base colour. The whole blend was smoothed out with a final couple of glazes in the original base colour.
The bone was a similar exercise using brown ink and glazing medium to push the shadows.
No airbrush on this one, it’s an exercise in glazing.
Cheers chaps 😁
It depends on who’s in chat and what comes up in conversation really. It usually centres around hobby stuff, but music, family, random ‘stuff’, general chitchat. Life, the universe, and everything else, with the exclusion of politics and religion.
Interesting. How many viewers do you tend to get? I tend to watch gaming related streams where the conversation focuses around the game and there can be stretches where you are just watching the game unfold with very little commentary. I am intrigued by hosting a live stream where a miniature is being painted and someone is talking over that.
I’m new to streaming so I only get a couple of viewers at the moment. The more established painters regularly see 70+

I had to google Bucky O’Hare, but your right 🤣
Many thanks, do you have a PayPal address?
They’ll do fine thank you. How much would you like for them?
The shading on the base skin tone was two brush blended, then I highlighted up with white glazes. To bring the green back up I glazed the whole with a mid colour, except for the faces. They were glazed with ruddy flesh tones before being hilighted with a pale flesh tone.
My wife approves! LOL
Some classics minis in there.
Thank you all for your kind words.
I used an airbrush for the initial priming of the miniature, using the zenithal priming method. The rest of the painting was done using the traditional hairy stick.
I’m moving on to his helmet decoration today.
Mike I think he may have been Grenadier originally, but he’s now available from http://www.mirliton.it/product_info.php?pName=personality-1&cName=fantasy-2528mm-humans
I received the Auzituck Gunship for the X-Wing Miniatures Game from my little sis.
Vouchers from my ‘Aunt’ (actually the aunt of my wife) enables me to purchase a swanky web cam to enable mope to have a go at live streaming on Twitch TV while I am miniature painting.
Isopropyl alcohol should cure what ails ya.
They look suitably imposing.
This was me last summer 😁
Will you accept my firstborn in lieu of cash?
K, something else.
I am a painting service.
Painting up a Critical Mass Civilian Transport Pod care of Ral Partha Europe.
The canopy is my first attempt at a technique poached from Spaceman Spiff. Next I’ll be attempting another technique new to me for the bodywork, nmm chrome anyone?
Cool! Ain’t polystyrene a bugger to clean up?!
a GZG merc – I had her ‘spare’ from a larger group I’m making with the Mercs (who’ll be lead by one of the Crom’s Anvil Bodyguard’s with a little tweaking). The painting is pretty crap (especially the head) but that’s life – win some, lose some.
I love the green hair and eyebrows.
Nice batrep it’s a fun read.
